The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are coming off their bye week to host the Detroit Lions, and one of our top Lions vs. Buccaneers NFL player props for Week 6 features Detroit running back David Montgomery. All our NFL picks are based on the NFL odds from our best sports betting apps.

The Detroit Lions have roared to a 4-1 start under NFL Coach of the Year favorite Dan Campbell, and they’re also out to an early lead in the NFC North standings.

This could prove to be a tough matchup for the Lion, though.

The NFC South-leading Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-1) run out the personnel to slow down what Detroit does best, and Tampa is coming off its bye week. Still, we anticipate the hard-nosed Lions having success Sunday.

To accompany our NFL predictions for Week 6 and NFL best bets, here are our best Lions-Buccaneers NFL player props for Week 6 (odds via our best NFL betting sites; Pick confidence is based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

Lions vs. Buccaneers NFL player props: Week 6

David Montgomery anytime touchdown scorer (-150 via bet365) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

I’m not sure how many times head coach Dan Campbell needs to say it before the world starts believing, but the Lions want free-agent signing David Montgomery to be their bell-cow running back, not 12th-overall draft selection Jahmyr Gibbs. Montgomery has drawn 88 rushing attempts over his four games played while finding the end zone at least once in all four of those contests.

With Gibbs again questionable entering Week 6 due to a hamstring injury, Sunday should feature another robust workload for Montgomery, who will own the goal-line work regardless of Gibbs’ involvement. Although the Bucs have allowed just two rushing touchdowns in four games this season, we’re not fading Montgomery’s role in a productive Lions offense.

A couple of our best sportsbooks have clearly caught on to the level of involvement the Lions are giving their top running back, as DraftKings and Caesars are juicing Montgomery’s anytime touchdown odds to -175. There’s still value to be gleaned at FanDuel and bet365, though, as Montgomery’s odds to find paydirt are -155 and -150, respectively, at those locations.

Jared Goff Over 22.5 pass completions (+100 via DraftKings) ⭐⭐⭐

Tampa Bay sits near the middle of the pack in passing defense from a yardage perspective, but the Bucs have been effective with a bend-but-don’t-break approach that's allowed opponents to rack up more robust completion numbers. The Bucs have permitted 24.0 completions per game on the year (21st in the NFL).

While Goff has only cleared this line once in 2023, he’s nudged up against it twice with a pair of 22-completion games. In a game environment that's expected to be competitive and against a strong rushing defense, Detroit won’t be able to rely as heavily on the run game as it would like. That should lead to more passing opportunities for Goff to clear this line.

DraftKings lists the Goff completions prop at even money, which represents a more favorable wagering opportunity on Over 22.5 completions than the odds provided at Caesars (-101) or bet365 (-105).

Rachaad White Under 45.5 rushing yards (-110 via bet365) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

While the Bucs' defense holds a reputation for stopping the run, the Lions have been even better against opposing running backs while allowing just 68.4 rushing yards per game on the season (third).

Rachaad White is the opposition this week, and his season-long inefficiency (3.3 yards per carry) could be his undoing in a matchup like this one. Although White has cleared this rushing total in two of four games in 2023, the Lions are tougher than any defensive front he's seen yet.

While most of our best live betting sites list White’s rushing total at 45.5 yards, you’ll want to pay close attention to the variation in the odds. Caesars (-131) and DraftKings (-125) make you pay a premium to bet the Under. We prefer the odds at Caesars (-115) or bet365 (-110) for this prop.
