Pros
  • Lots of promos and odds boosts.
  • Wide range of sports and bet types.
Cons
  • Indirect and unhelpful customer service.

DraftKings Review

DraftKings had a solid reputation as the leading DFS provider in the country, so the shift to legal sports betting felt natural. They offer one of the most voluminous collections of ongoing promos and odds boosts in the industry as they cater to the beginner crowd. However, their reputation has dwindled as outspoken CEO Jason Robins leads the charge of the anti-profitable bettor mentality that runs rampant amongst sportsbooks that are quick to limit winning players.

FanDuel reigns supreme right now as the No. 1 betting site in America. Best app to bet on the Super Bowl

One of the best things about sports betting is the wide array of sportsbooks to choose from. Each one will have its own promotions and finding the best online Super Bowl sportsbook can be daunting.

Luckily, sports bettors aren’t limited to just one book. In fact, multiple sportsbook bonuses and promo codes can be redeemed by the same person on different Super Bowl betting sites. Having an account with more than one of them is a good way to maximize your betting value and become a profitable bettor over the long run, whether it’s a risk-free bet or a deposit match.

For example, DraftKings is one of the best sportsbooks. One of their best features is the variety of prop bets they offer. Betting on Super Bowl prop markets is more popular than any other betting market, and the sheer volume of available choices makes DraftKings an easy pick.

Other top Super Bowl betting apps

There are a few big industry players when it comes to determining the top sportsbook betting apps for the Super Bowl and the NFL. One of the best Super Bowl betting app alternatives is BetMGM Sportsbook. As a subsidiary company of MGM Resorts International — a global organization with roughly US$44 billion in assets — they have a lot of power in comparison to the average sportsbook.

BetMGM Sportsbook often offers bonus boosts on pre-picked parlays and other featured markets, meaning there’s always betting value available. Caesars Sportsbook is also linked to a multi-billion-dollar company in Caesars Entertainment and will frequently run competitive promotions to stay in the game for top sportsbook betting apps.

Super Bowl live betting

Super Bowl betting sites attract a lot of traffic on the days leading up to the big game, but the action doesn’t stop there. In fact, you can keep placing new bets all game long thanks to Super Bowl live betting. The odds of each market will continuously fluctuate based on what is happening in the game, so finding the right time to pounce is crucial. Since the Super Bowl is an event big enough to be viewed by many — even those who don’t have much interest in football — the live odds are quicker to update than usual.

Sportsbooks are well aware of the uptick in sports betting during the Super Bowl. As such, there will be several more unique betting markets than usual meaning it’s easy to get creative with wagers spanning from single prop bets to zany parlays, and everything in between. Be sure to check out a few different online sportsbooks, as each one will have its own fun props. You may as well take the time to evaluate a few options before making any decisions.

How we rate and review Super Bowl betting sites

SBR takes our Super Bowl betting sites review system very seriously. We know there are several options out there and taking the headache out of it all is our top priority. Most sportsbooks have some strong qualities, but which ones are the most well-rounded? More importantly, which ones have the features you covet the most? Knowing the best NFL betting odds is another crucial part of being an informed bettor.

Around Super Bowl time, things tend to get a tad more confusing as sportsbooks scramble to offer competitive Super Bowl bonuses in addition to their regular promotions. Luckily, these offerings aren’t mutually exclusive as sports bettors are able to claim both promos at once — as long as it’s their first time registering. Here are some examples of the criteria we evaluate:

New user bonus value

Every betting site has some kind of new user promotion whether it be a deposit match, a bonus bet, or some other kind of incentive. Luckily, you aren’t limited to just one, but it’s always helpful to know what all of these promos are so that the best new user bonuses can be activated first — especially since there’s no way of knowing if and/or when a sportsbook might switch to a new promotion.

Diversity of betting markets

Most sportsbooks pride themselves on their wide variety of available betting markets, but the biggest players have the power to truly encompass them all. This includes obscure markets and/or leagues that aren’t commonly found such as the WNBA, Pickleball, and several different eSports.

To take things a step further, some sportsbooks have boosted markets or enhanced odds so that certain bets are more profitable than usual. For example, placing a prop bet on a specific player to score may be +250 at DraftKings compared to +175 at other sportsbooks due to a boosted odds promotion.

Rewards programs

At some sportsbooks, the value doesn’t stop at promotions. For example, Caesars sets itself apart from the rest with their multiple rewards programs. Both the new user bonus, and other promotions, often include Caesars rewards points in addition to the extra betting credits. From there, the rewards points can snowball into more bonus bets and betting credit, meaning the perks never end. New users bonuses will attract you to certain sportsbooks from the onset, but lucrative rewards programs are what keep bettors interested.

Customer service

Modern day sportsbooks are leagues ahead of your father’s bookie in terms of customer service. Whether it’s via phone, email, Twitter, live chat, or all four, most sportsbook have customer support lines that are available for most hours of the day – if not 24/7. Competition between sportsbooks is fierce and client services should be a priority focus for all operators; however, there are some that still stand above the rest.

How to bet on the Super Bowl

Betting on the Super Bowl can be overwhelming at times. It’s such a unique game for both football and sports in general, so it’s important to know exactly how to sign up and get the ball rolling. Everything from creating an account to placing your first wager on the best NFL betting sites is all a part of the process, and you can do so in the most convenient manner possible by simply following the steps below:

1) Create account

Signing up for an account is usually a pretty seamless process. First, check local sports gambling rules and regulations to ensure you are the right age to place wagers in the current state or province you are residing in. Most sportsbooks offer a sign-up bonus for new users, and thus you may also be required to enter a promo code during registration.

2) Make deposit

Make your first real cash deposit into your account balance. Some sportsbooks have a ‘no deposit’ new user promotion, meaning you could potentially place some initial without depositing some real cash at all. When you do, however, make sure you are using a bank or money transfer service that is compatible with the methods of payment accepted by the sportsbook.

3) Place wager

Finally, it is time to place your first wager. Take your time when evaluating the markets as there will be several potential bets to choose from such as opening kickoff props. There’s no rush as long as you give yourself enough time to make an educated decision.

4) Receive site credit or winnings (profit)

Some sportsbooks have a 'risk-free' or bonus bet promotion for new users, meaning you would receive site credit equivalent to the amount of real cash used during your first bet. For example, if you place a $75 bet and it loses, you would receive $75 in site credit. If you win that bet, however, you will not receive site credit as you’ll instead receive the usual profit from the bet.

Super Bowl prop bets

Super Bowl prop bets are what most fans focus on during game day and the lead-up to the big game. Prop bets are now available for almost every sport, but they actually originated as a betting market specifically geared toward the Super Bowl itself. Traditional prop bets typically focus on the Over/Under of individual player stats, such as betting a player to catch over 60 receiving yards, but Super Bowl player prop bets can be much more whimsical.

For example, a popular Super Bowl prop is to wager on the length of the national anthem being Over/Under a specific time limit. Super Bowl prop bets can also be parlayed, which can get lucrative considering the odds of some of the more wild props are as long as futures bets. If you need some ideas, don’t hesitate to check out some of our Super Bowl picks from SBR’s in-house experts. Other types of Super Bowl prop bets include:

How Super Bowl betting odds work

Super Bowl odds can vary based on which betting markets you wager on. For example, Moneyline odds will typically be shorter than futures odds, even if you were to pick the same team for each. Following Conference Finals, Super Bowl futures odds typically close since only two teams remain anyways.

Once the game begins, Super Bowl live in-game betting also starts. This can be a good place to find sneaky betting value depending on how the game eventually plays out. For example, the New England Patriots were down 28-3 in the third quarter against the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl 51. Despite this, then-Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has a penchant for coming back in big games and ultimately led the Pats to a 34-28 championship victory. Knowing how clutch Tom Brady has been, combined with the large deficit the Pats were in during the third quarter, has all the makings of a lucrative underdog live bet.

Timing is everything when it comes to placing the perfect live bet.

Super Bowl betting tips

Here are some tips to staying ahead of the curve:

1) Pay attention to injuries

As a sports bettor, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain by paying attention to injuries. For example, if a team’s starting quarterback goes down and leaves the game, you will have a small window of time in which to place a live bet on the opposing team to win. A large injury to one team doesn’t always guarantee a win for the other; but remember that it’s all about finding value in ever-changing odds.

2) Use stats, but also follow your gut

Is there a really good wide receiver who has just gotten a bit unlucky after a slow first half? Or is a backup running back suddenly garnering more touches due to hot play? Now’s the time to take the Over on their prop bets for a rock bottom price.

As an example, the Dallas Cowboys signed their starting running back Ezekiel Elliott to one of the most lucrative contracts in history at the position. Despite this, second-string back Tony Pollard has usurped Zeke for the lead role during some games this season thanks to stellar production. Taking the Over on Pollard’s rushing yards prop would be a great value in this situation, so long as you are watching the game and placing your wager before the odds move too much because of the new game script.

3) Re-evaluate bet progress at halftime

If your initial bets aren’t paying off, remember that it is ok to double down on a special event such as this, as long as you stay within your financial limits and play responsibly. Another good rule of thumb is to avoid placing more bets until you’ve put a solid amount of thought into your next move. Remember that Super Bowl halftime performances are often quite long, meaning there’s a lot of time to game plan ahead of the second half. If you’re with other friends or family members who are also betting, it’s never a bad idea to have a group discussion about everyone’s first half observations.
