One week after becoming the new NFL Coach of the Year odds favorite, Dan Campbell continued to use his fearless brand of football to push his Detroit Lions to an 11th straight win.

The Lions boast the NFL's best record at 12-1, and they're inching away as the Super Bowl odds favorite.

Similarly, there's a growing gap beyond Campbell in the NFL Coach of the Year odds, with Detroit's sideline boss tightening his grip at our best NFL prop betting sites. However, Kevin O'Connell (Minnesota Vikings), Mike Tomlin (Pittsburgh Steelers), and Sean Payton (Denver Broncos) remain right behind Campbell while also helping their respective teams to quality seasons.

Can Campbell and his powerhouse Lions keep sprinting away? Here's how the NFL Coach of the Year odds look at our best NFL betting sites.

Some other newsworthy tidbits:

  • There's some disagreement at the top among our best NFL betting sites, and that begins with Campbell, who's listed as long as -143 through BetMGM but as short as -190 at Caesars.
  • O'Connell is also as long as +500 at DraftKings, while FanDuel is down at +390
  • There there's Tomlin, who as long as +650 and as short as +450
  • There's a significant gap after Tomlin, as only the top three are being given an implied probability of 13.33% or better
  • Jim Harbaugh took a significant tumble after his Los Angeles Chargers suffered a tough Sunday night loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, going from +750 to around +3000

NFL Coach of the Year favorite

Dan Campbell (-143)

Campbell is surging ahead and becoming the overwhelming favorite. There's a significant divide between his -143 odds atop the board, and the roughly +400 odds O'Connell is receiving.

Campbell has led his team to a nearly flawless record while playing in one of the league's toughest divisions, and he's doing it while putting immense trust in his players to execute. He did that repeatedly this past week with daring fourth-down calls during a narrow win over the division-rival Green Bay Packers on Thursday Night Football.

He was trading at around +400 only a couple of weeks ago. Now, following multiple seasons in which many argued he should win this award, Campbell will be hard to ignore if the Lions take the hotly contested NFC North.

My Coach of the Year candidate to watch

Mike Tomlin (+650)

If Tomlin were to win, it would be a legacy award of sorts since the legend somehow hasn't been given the honor, despite guiding his team to six division titles and a Super Bowl win after taking over back in 2007.

As has often been the case under Tomlin, the Steelers boast a strong defense that anchors the squad. But what's made this season different and perhaps trophy-worthy for Tomlin are the quarterback questions he's needed to navigate throughout the campaign.

The Steelers are 9-3 and sit atop an imposing AFC North. They've won seven of their last eight games, most recently knocking off the rival Cleveland Browns. The team managed Justin Fields well and squeezed the most out of him before turning to Russell Wilson, who looks rejuvenated.

Tomlin's odds have been hovering around the same territory despite his team still piling up wins recently. That's no doubt in part due to the brilliance of Campbell and the Lions. But if Detroit stumbles, expect the long-tenured legend to be ready to pounce.

How to bet on NFL Coach of the Year

When betting on NFL Coach of the Year odds, find a reputable sportsbook that offers futures bets for this award.

Check out the odds for different coaches; for example, if Jim Harbaugh is at +500 and Matt Eberflus is at +800, Harbaugh is favored to win.

Decide how much you want to wager and place your bet. If you bet $100 on Harbaugh at +500 and he wins, you’ll get $600 back ($500 profit + $100 stake). Keep an eye on how the coaches' teams perform throughout the season to see how your bet is shaping up.

But remember, with odds movement in future markets, it's pretty heavily impacted by wins and perception. If a coach overcomes adversity, their odds will improve. Conversely, their odds will worsen if they underperform or fall short of expectations.

Public betting trends are important, too - if many people are betting on one coach, sportsbooks might adjust the odds to manage their risk.

Expert analysis and predictions also play a role, as they can sway public opinion and betting patterns. Understanding these factors can help you make smarter bets and potentially catch favorable odds shifts.

How to read NFL Coach of the Year odds

Reading NFL Coach of the Year odds is straightforward. Odds are usually presented in a format like +500 or -200. Positive odds (e.g., +500) show how much profit you’d make on a $100 bet.

For example, a $100 bet at +500 odds would win you $500, plus your original $100 stake, totaling $600. Negative odds (e.g., -200) indicate how much you need to bet to win $100. So, a $200 bet at -200 odds would win you $100, plus your $200 stake, totaling $300.

These odds also reflect the implied probability of a coach winning the award. Lower odds (e.g., +200) suggest a higher likelihood of winning, while higher odds (e.g., +1000) indicate a lower likelihood. Sportsbooks adjust these odds based on team performance, overcoming injuries, and betting patterns.

For example, if Jim Harbaugh has +500 odds and Matt Eberflus has +800 odds, Harbaugh is considered more likely to win. If you bet $100 on Harbaugh and he wins, you’d get $600 back ($500 profit + $100 stake). Understanding these odds helps you make informed betting decisions and assess potential returns.
