The Kansas City Chiefs haven't dominated anyone yet, particularly over the past two weeks. Their combined margin of victory over those games has been a mere six points.

But the two-time defending champs are winning nonetheless. Those victories combined with a championship pedigree put the Chiefs far out in front as we look at the NFL projected win totals from our best NFL betting sites.

The Chiefs sit at a projected 13.5 wins with a 3-0 record. They're two triumphs clear of every other team. That mirrors their position as the favorites in the Super Bowl odds, too.

Here are some other highlights after Week 3, with all win totals via FanDuel:

  • The Buffalo Bills continue to be not far behind the Chiefs at 11.5 wins, and an NFL MVP odds favorite in Josh Allen leads the charge for them
  • The Texans are pulling away in their division at 10.5 wins, all while mid-tier NFL Offensive Player of the Year odds contender Nico Collins continues to be incredible
  • The NFC North is predictably a scary place, with three teams projected for 10-plus wins

AFC East win total analysis

There are only three teams that our best sports betting sites are currently giving a projection of 11.5 or greater, and the top-heavy AFC East is home to one. Buffalo has recorded 21- and 37-point wins over its last two games.

AFC North win total analysis

The AFC North is mashed together tightly. Our best sports betting apps still believe in the Bengals to some degree despite their winless record, surely noting the close nature of each game, and a one-point loss to the defending champs in Week 2.

Elsewhere, the surprisingly undefeated Pittsburgh Steelers are even with the Baltimore Ravens, though with far longer odds for the Over on 9.5 wins.

AFC South win total analysis

There's a chasm between the Texans and the rest here, largely because two of the NFL's three winless teams occupy the bottom of the AFC South.

However, as impressive as they've been at times, the Texans have put up a pedestrian minus-19 point differential over three weeks.

The Chargers hit a speed bump in the form of the Steelers during Week 3, losing 20-10. But they've still been shining overall, with NFL Coach of the Year odds contender Jim Harbaugh giving his team renewed energy.

Perhaps the most surprising element of this division is the Broncos showing life. Their projected win total is now aligned with the Raiders' number after a dominant win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, which came following losses of seven points or fewer over the first two weeks.

The Eagles are 2-1 and tied for the division lead, and that's largely a product of Saquon Barkley sprinting out to being the faraway front-runner in the NFL Offensive Player of the Year odds. Barkley is averaging 117 rushing yards per game (351 total over three contests).

However, much like the Chiefs, the Eagles have yet to look dominant, and oddsmakers are likely giving them respect here with this high win total based on past results. The Eagles could also soon face competition from elsewhere in the division, with NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year odds leader Jayden Daniels suddenly riding high for the Washington Commanders.

NFC North win total analysis

This is the NFL's battle dome, and the only division with three teams listed at 9.5 wins or higher heading into Week 4.

The most surprising is the Minnesota Vikings, a team that seemed destined to scuffle offensively after first-round quarterback J.J. McCarthy suffered a season-ending injury during training camp. Now the Vikings sit third leaguewide while averaging 28.3 points per game.

NFC South win total analysis

The NFC South comes with plenty of intrigue. There's the New Orleans Saints dropping two 40-plus-point outbursts in the first two weeks before careening back down to earth in a 15-12 loss to the Eagles. Their win total now matches the Falcons, who seem to always play white-knuckle football.

But the most curious part of the division lies at the bottom. The Carolina Panthers now seem at least mildly competent with Andy Dalton as their quarterback, and the result is a sharp two-win rise in their projected total.

NFC West win total analysis

Oddsmakers are still making what feels like the safe assumption that the real 49ers team will show up fast once everyone is healthy. But it gets late early in the NFL season, and a further slide beyond the current two games could quickly make 11 wins a tough peak to reach.

Elsewhere, the Seattle Seahawks are among the NFL's undefeated teams. Their win total could rise swiftly if they prevail during Week 4 under the bright lights of Monday Night Football in a tough road contest against the Detroit Lions.

How to bet NFL season Over/Under win totals

Our sites with the best sportsbook promos set a projected win total for each team, and you’re betting on whether a team will win more (Over) or fewer (Under) games than a projected total.

To find these markets, go to your favorite sportsbook, head to the NFL section, and look for "futures." There, you'll find a variety of options, including win totals.

Oddsmakers consider many factors when setting or shifting win totals, including the quality of a team's roster, offseason transactions, draft picks, and past results. The strength of the division and schedule also factor into the total. There’s a price attached to each team total too, and it can change based on the betting action.

NFL team win totals are futures bets. A successful wager is paid out at the conclusion of the regular season.

Win total history

Since 2009-10, two teams - the 2015-16 Carolina Panthers and 2011-12 Green Bay Packers - finished the season with a 15-1 record. Since the 17-game schedule was introduced in 2021-22, no team has won 15 games.
