Cross-sport predictions for Super Bowl Sunday

Super Bowl-NBA: Chiefs to have more team rush yards than Celtics team points (+100 via DraftKings) ⭐⭐⭐

The Boston Celtics are the fifth-highest-scoring team in the NBA, averaging 120.6 per game. In their two games against the Miami Heat this season, they’ve scored 119 and 143 points. Though those numbers are alarming, the Heat have the fourth-best-scoring defense in the league, allowing just 110.8 points per game.

Relying heavily on Isiah Pacheco, the Chiefs are 18th in the NFL in rushing yards per game, averaging 108.3 per contest. But they have rushed for over 140 yards in two of their three postseason games.

The 49ers are allowing just 97 rushing yards per game, but they’re also allowing 4.3 rushing yards per attempt. As long as the Chiefs stick with Pacheco, even if they fall behind early, they will clear 140 yards again. At +100 via DraftKings, it’s worth backing that to be enough to top the Celtics.

Super Bowl-NHL: Chiefs to have more total TDs than Capitals total goals (+115 via DraftKings) ⭐⭐⭐

The Chiefs are averaging just 2.3 touchdowns per game this season. They’ve scored just two touchdowns in two of their three playoff games. Yet, even against a defense that allows as few points as the 49ers do, the Chiefs should still score more touchdowns than the Washington Capitals score goals.

The Capitals are the third-lowest scoring team in the NHL, averaging just 2.37 goals per game. On Sunday, they face the Vancouver Canucks, a team allowing 2.57 goals per game, tied for the third-best mark in the league.

The Chiefs will need to avoid settling for field goals as they have done far too many times this season. But if they get into the end zone three times, they should win this prop. If you think they’re only going to score twice, then you could consider playing the “tie” option for +425.

See our Super Bowl score predictions for more on what can be expected from the Kansas City offense.

Super Bowl-PGA Tour: Scottie Scheffler Round 4 birdies vs. SB LVIII total touchdowns: Tie (+650 via DraftKings) ⭐⭐

Scheffler hit five birdies in each of his first two rounds of the WM Phoenix Open. Perhaps he won’t be as consistent in the fourth round, but this is a very good starting point considering what the Super Bowl total is set at.

With a Super Bowl point total of 47.5 and a spread of -2, the implied final score of the Super Bowl is either 24-23 or 25-23. In each of those scenarios, the Chiefs and 49ers would combine for either five or six total touchdowns.

To get this tie at +650 offers tremendous value. Even if Scheffler performs slightly worse in round four than he has been playing, he’d still likely make at least four birdies in the closing round of a tournament he won each of the last two years.

Four touchdowns being scored in the Super Bowl, considering the two defenses playing in the game, would not be surprising at all.
