Odds on the length of the Super Bowl national anthem have become a staple for the majority of marquee sports betting sites – and it's easy to see why. Where else would you see such intense discourse over the anthem singer's vocal tendencies? The Super Bowl national anthem prop bet always generates plenty of betting interest; here's a closer look.

As Super Bowl prop bets go, wagering on the length of the national anthem might be a favorite among people who don't normally bet on sports.

There's a pop culture element to it, of course, with some of the most notable musicians in the world having performed the Super Bowl national anthem over the years.  But it's also one of those prop bets that don't require a deep dive into the Super Bowl odds. You either think the national anthem will finish before the sportsbook time listed, or it will run over that number.

Our Super Bowl picks don't include a play on the national anthem length, but we're happy to help you conquer this wildly popular Super Bowl prop bet.

Super Bowl National Anthem Odds

The NFL has revealed that renowned singer and songwriter Chris Stapleton will be performing the anthem Feb. 12 – and now that we have the "who" in place, it hasn't taken long for sports betting sites to provide bettors with a market. Here's a look at the early odds:

ResultOdds
Over 121.5 seconds-120
Under 121.5 seconds-120

For context, we'll also share what went down at last year's NFL championship between the Los Angeles Rams and Cincinnati Bengals.

Country singer Mickey Guyton was tabbed to sing the national anthem in 2022; the Over/Under for her performance was set at approximately one minute, 40 seconds (though bettors had a range of a few seconds on either side depending on the sportsbook of choice).

That number was on the low end of historic national anthem lengths – and Guyton converted the Over with ease, coming in at one minute, 50 seconds.

Betting on the length of the national anthem isn't the only prop associated with the pre-game song; depending on the sports betting site, bettors will also be able to place wagers on:

  • Whether the shortest Super Bowl scoring drive will be shorter than the anthem
  • Whether the singer will forget at least one word of "The Star-Spangled Banner"
  • What color outfit the singer is wearing
  • Which quarterback/head coach the television camera will pan to first
  • How many planes will fly over the stadium during the anthem

As you can see, it has become quite the Super Bowl pre-game betting event!

The chances are good that if someone has performed the national anthem at the Super Bowl, you've heard of them.

Early in the Super Bowl national anthem history books, performances longer than two minutes were special occasions – but we're seeing a lot more held notes these days, as shown by the times of every national anthem singer dating back to 1990:

  • Did Kelly Clarkson know about her Super Bowl national anthem odds? The inaugural American Idol champion is the only crooner to hit the sportsbook number right on the nose.
  • If we get another duet at Super Bowl 57, you might want to auto-lock the Over. Only two duos have performed the national anthem, and their performances averaged 2:13.
  • Group acts in general come in longer than average; four groups of two or more singers have performed the Super Bowl national anthem, with the Backstreet Boys (1:49) the quickest.
