As the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles prepare to battle in Super Bowl 2025, talk has focused on the two franchises' similarities. Chief among them - no pun intended - are the Super Bowl head coaches, who meet in the Big Game for a second time in three years.

Our Andy Reid vs. Nick Sirianni comparison combs through the statistical caveats of each coach's career as they ready their sides to clash in Super Bowl 59. The latest Super Bowl odds list the former's Chiefs as 1.5-point favorites over the latter's Eagles.

Let's break down each head coach's statistics and story to get to this stage.

Andy Reid vs. Nick Sirianni stats

Nick Sirianni48-20 (.706)5-3 (.625)220

With respects to the job that Sirianni has done in his first four seasons in Philadelphia, Reid is one of the best coaches in NFL history and the all-time wins leader for both franchises facing off in Super Bowl 59.

Reid posted a 130-93-1 record (.583) in 14 seasons with the Eagles before taking the job in Kansas City, where he's been even better with a 143-53 record (.730) in 12 seasons.

He ranks second all-time in playoff wins (28) and will break the record next Sunday for playoff games coached (45), and he rewrote the Chiefs Super Bowl history with three NFL championships in the last five seasons after reaching (and losing) the Big Game just once in his Philadelphia tenure.

Reid is also one of the best coaches of all time with extra time to prepare, as we broke down in our look at Super Bowl bye weeks - he's 33-7 in his career coming off a bye week, which is the best record in NFL history among those with at least 10 such games.

Sirianni is no slouch, either, posting a 7-1 record after a week off and a 48-20 record overall (.706), besting Reid's win percentage albeit in 22 fewer seasons. He's still looking for that elusive Lombardi Trophy that only predecessor Doug Pederson has ever delivered to the City of Brotherly Love.

Andy Reid vs. Nick Sirianni head-to-head record & past results

Reid hasn't tasted defeat too frequently during his time in Kansas City, losing just 53 times during his 12-year run with the Chiefs - fewer than five per season. But one of those losses came at the hands of an individual he chose not to retain on his coaching staff in the early days at his new destination.

Reid and Sirianni have gone head to head three times ahead of this Chiefs vs. Eagles rematch in Super Bowl 2025. The former holds the advantage, 2-1, with the most notable win coming in Super Bowl 57. Philadelphia got the laugh the last time out, though, with a 21-17 victory in Kansas City.

Here's a look at every meeting between the two head coaches:

Feb. 12, 2023 (Super Bowl 57)Chiefs 38, Eagles 35

It's no surprise that the previous matchups between these two offensive-minded coaches have produced high-scoring affairs.

These teams combined to go Over the betting total by 41 points across their first two meetings under Reid and Sirianni, scored a combined 154 points in those matchups. The third meeting between the coaches - and second in the regular season - saw a lower-scoring affair (38 total points) that went Under.

While the Eagles won the last meeting between these budding rivals, the Chiefs had won four straight dating back to before Sirianni's tenure in Philly, as we laid out in our Chiefs vs. Eagles history heading into Super Bowl 59.

Andy Reid's tenure in Philadelphia

Reid and Sirianni hold special places in the city's collective heart, even if the fans don't always show it. They've both faced the scrutiny that comes with coaching in South Philadelphia as fans called for each to be fired countless times.

In the former's case, he was eventually dismissed after 14 seasons in Philly, but he nevertheless helped return the Eagles to their former glory after an inconsistent period under Ray Rhodes.

Reid accomplished a lot in Philadelphia, including winning six division titles. It took him just three seasons to take the Eagles to the top of the NFC East, a place they hadn't been in the 13 years prior.

He also ended a 24-year drought in Super Bowl appearances, even though he failed to bring the franchise its first post-merger championship. All things considered, the Eagles are largely where they are today thanks to Reid's efforts in the early 2000s.

Reid was fired amid a 4-12 season in 2012, and even though he left without a Super Bowl ring, he departed as the winningest coach in franchise history. His record still stands 13 years later.

A year after Reid left Philadelphia, he chose not to retain some members of Romeo Crennel's existing staff in Kansas City. This meant letting go of a promising young wide receivers coach by the now-familiar name of Nick Sirianni.

It wouldn't take that young coach long to land a new gig as he found a home on Mike McCoy's staff in San Diego. He would develop a close relationship with Frank Reich during his stint with the Chargers, and they reunited in 2018 when Reich was named the head coach for the Indianapolis Colts and hired Sirianni as his offensive coordinator.

Three years later, Sirianni was standing at the pinnacle of the coaching world when he was named Pederson's successor in Philadelphia.

Sirianni's four seasons as head coach have been subject to plenty of scrutiny. This shouldn't come as a surprise, as fans are a bit restless now that they've tasted success after Pederson led them to the first win in Eagles Super Bowl history.

After a 9-8 record in his debut campaign, Sirianni has led his team to an average of 13 wins over his last three seasons. Philly has made the playoffs every year under his guidance, but an embarrassing postseason exit last year following an 11-6 regular season had fans calling for the coach's head.

Impressively, the 43-year-old bounced back and led the Eagles to a 14-3 record this year, and he's brushed aside every challenge thrown at him in the postseason. Philadelphia is in the Big Game for a fifth time overall, and Sirianni is the only coach to lead it there twice.

Quite predictably, he's left Eagles fans scratching their heads and wondering why they were angry at the football team's frontman in the first place.

Sirianni has only been in charge for 68 games, but his .706 win percentage is the best by a full-time head coach in franchise history. It's one of the best marks in NFL history, too, as he's gotten off to an incredible start to his career.

If the young coach can prevent Patrick Mahomes, Reid, and Co. from winning a third title in as many years, he'll do something the franchise's all-time wins leader could not and deliver a Lombardi Trophy to 'The Linc.'

Who has the edge in Super Bowl 2025?

This year's matchup is just the 10th Super Bowl rematch in league history, and the past favors the first-time winner. Only Washington (1983), Dallas (1996), and Philadelphia (2018) have avenged an initial loss in a subsequent Super Bowl.

Furthermore, this will be the fifth rematch between coaches in the Super Bowl and - cover your eyes, Eagles fans - the winning coach the first time is undefeated in the encore.

Our best sportsbooks aren't falling victim to Reid and the Chiefs again, as they have in the previous two Super Bowls. This time, Kansas City is the favorite with no better than -125 odds ahead of Chiefs vs. Eagles Part II.

That provides the 66-year-old Reid with a potential perfect storybook ending against his former franchise, should he choose to hang up his hat and headset after 26 seasons.

Both names are synonymous with Philadelphia football, no matter the outcome of Super Bowl 59. Reid and Sirianni have each delivered resounding periods of success to the Eagles amid scrutiny, and there's something to be said for that. They'll let their respective teams do the talking on the field at the Caesars Superdome on Sunday, Feb. 9.
