Super Bowl records may fall when the Kansas City Chiefs play the San Francisco 49ers in Sunday's Big Game and we're making our best predictions on which of those all-time records may be beat based on the best NFL odds.

Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas is set to host the 58th edition of the Super Bowl on Feb. 11, 2024, featuring a highly anticipated matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers. The 49ers are favorites by the Super Bowl odds.

In the previous season, Chiefs wide receiver Kadarius Toney made a noteworthy mark in the record books, albeit temporarily, with the longest punt return in Super Bowl history. It marked the first significant individual Super Bowl record since Super Bowl LI when Tom Brady threw for 505 yards.

While it's unlikely that Super Bowl records will be broken on Sunday, placing bets related to them can add excitement as the kickoff approaches. However, it's advisable to opt for small-unit plays, considering the infrequency of these records being surpassed.

We've already looked at the best Super Bowl rematch Props for these two teams, but are there any records we should expect to see broken in Super Bowl 2024?

To accompany our Chiefs vs. 49ers prediction and Super Bowl predictions, here are our Super Bowl record predictions and our NFL picks based on the best prop bet odds (odds via our best Super Bowl betting sites; pick confidence based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

Which Super Bowl records will be broken?

4-plus touchdowns (+1800 via DraftKings) ⭐⭐

Most recently in 2023 by Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia Eagles

Seven players have scored three touchdowns in a single Super Bowl. Last year, Hurts achieved this feat, rushing for three against the Kansas City Chiefs.

This game features one of the most prolific touchdown scorers in NFL history. Christian McCaffrey has scored 81 touchdowns in his career, including 25 this year. He’s scored two touchdowns in both playoff games as well.

But McCaffrey isn’t the only one who could score four touchdowns in this game. Travis Kelce has scored three touchdowns this postseason. And there are also players like Deebo Samuel, George Kittle, and Isiah Pacheco who could make a run at this prop.

Will we see a player score four touchdowns on Super Bowl Sunday? Probably not. But of all the records that could be broken, this one feels the most in danger. And it's worth making this wager at DraftKings for fun.

205-plus rushing yards (+3000 via DraftKings) ⭐

Record set in 1988 by Timmy Smith, Washington

McCaffrey has never had a 200-yard rushing game, so why not change that on the NFL’s biggest stage? His current career-high is 184 yards, which he set in 2018. The game plan for the 49ers will be interesting. Will Kyle Shanahan take the ball out of his young quarterback’s hands and use McCaffrey more than usual? If he does, McCaffrey could feasibly break this record against a defense allowing 4.5 yards per rush.

But it’s Pacheco who probably has the best chance of breaking this record. The second-year back set a career-high with 130 rushing yards in Week 17 of this season. In the postseason, he’s carried the ball 24 times in two of his three games.

Last week, the Detroit Lions ran for 182 yards against the 49ers and averaged a whopping 6.3 yards per carry. If the Chiefs build a lead in this game, then Pacheco may be able to take advantage of a defense allowing 4.3 rushing yards per attempt.

216-plus receiving yards (+3000 via DraftKings) ⭐

Record set in 1989 by Jerry Rice, San Francisco 49ers

Our favorite record to be broken is most receptions. Even in a game featuring two teams that run the ball well, the NFL is a passing league. Both of these teams have players who can haul in an incredible number of receptions, especially if they find a matchup they like. However, the receptions record is not available at our best sports betting apps, so instead we’re looking at receiving yards.

Only one player in this game has ever broken 200 yards in a single game. That was George Kittle, when he went for 210 against the Denver Broncos in 2018. While it’s unlikely he, or any of the 49ers’ players could break this record, there are quite a few Chiefs’ players who could hit this number.

While the 49ers spread the ball around, Patrick Mahomes is willing to focus on one specific mismatch. Last week, Travis Kelce had 11 catches for 116 yards and Rashee Rice had eight for 46. Could either of these players end up in a game-long mismatch against a defense that has struggled against teams when they can’t get to the quarterback? For this price, it’s worth at least a little action.
