The first song of the Super Bowl 2024 halftime show sets the tone for the rest of the performance, and we're exploring Usher's best options with our top Super Bowl halftime show first song predictions based on the best NFL odds.

It may be the biggest sports-popular culture crossover event of the year: the Super Bowl halftime show. And the first song is arguably the most popular bet of them all.

FanDuel has taken this market off the board as of Feb. 7, but two of our best Ontario sports betting sites are offering this market with Super Bowl 2024 between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers just hours away. Between BetMGM and Betano, there are plenty of options to choose from, thanks to Usher's loaded catalog of music.

He could follow in the footsteps of Rihanna, who kicked off the 2023 halftime show with an upbeat song, but maybe he'll go with something a little slower - our best sports betting sites sure seem to think so - as The Weeknd did in 2021.

We dove a little deeper into the entire halftime show with our Super Bowl halftime show prop bets, and if that's not enough music-related action for you, make sure to check out our Taylor Swift Super Bowl prop bets.

In addition to our Chiefs vs. 49ers prediction and other Super Bowl predictions, here are our Super Bowl halftime show first song predictions and our NFL picks based on the best odds (odds via our best Super Bowl betting sites; pick confidence based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

As you can tell by these odds, Usher has plenty of options for his first song of the halftime show. There are two songs, in particular - one fast and one slower - that are storming away as the overwhelming favorites.

When three of our best sportsbooks were offering this market, "My Way" was the favorite, with "OMG" following closely behind. Both songs are trading at shorter than 2/1 at BetMGM.

However, Betano has moved a deep sleeper to its favorite spot, with "Caught Up" trading at -154.

The top 10 on our oddsboard include an interesting mix of faster and slower tracks, telling us that the sportsbooks are preparing for Usher to kick off the show with either style.

Four songs are listed at 3/1 or shorter at Betano, with one of them being arguably Usher's most recognizable song, "Yeah!"

Of the 10 songs in our oddsboard, BetMGM doesn't have odds for four of them. Be sure to shop around at multiple sites that offer the best sportsbook promos when betting on any novelty markets like this one.

Best 2024 Super Bowl halftime show first song prediction

"Yeah!" to be first song

Best odds: +700 via BetMGM (ON)

I understand the thought process for why people are rushing to back "My Way" as Usher's first song for the halftime show. It's the song he opened with during his 100-show Las Vegas residency. However, those were normal concerts, and this is very much anything but normal.

I bounced between "Yeah!" and "OMG," and although the former is the favorite in a different market, as we discussed in our Super Bowl halftime show last song predictions, I'm going to side with the song that is more popular and trading at far better odds.

On top of that, Apple Music started a halftime show ad campaign on Wednesday, titled "Where's Usher?" starring Ludacris, Lil Jon, and Taraji P. Henson. It would make sense for this bit to lead right into the halftime show and for the trio of Usher, Ludacris, and Lil Jon to kick off the show with "Yeah!"

Since Jay-Z/Roc Nation began co-producing the halftime show in 2020, only one performer (The Weeknd) has started with a slower song, and his performance is widely regarded as one of the weaker ones of the last decade.

Therefore, I'm much more inclined to believe that they'll begin the 2024 halftime show with an absolute banger, just as Rihanna did last year. And there's perhaps no bigger banger in Usher's catalog than "Yeah!"

This is easily Usher's most-viewed song on YouTube with nearly 900 million views (the second-most has only 380 million), and we're getting a good price on it because of all the buzz surrounding "My Way."

In comparison, Betano has "Yeah!" listed at +300, showing us that we're getting decent value by heading to BetMGM for this pick.

Something to keep in mind, though, is that this is one betting market that you can often know the result of before it happens. Halftime show leaks do exist - as we've seen with the guest performer market - so keep your eye on your favorite social media platform in case anything is revealed ahead of Sunday.
