NFL player prop bold predictions: Quarterbacks

Derek Carr to lead NFL in interceptions (+2000 via DraftKings) ⭐⭐⭐

This is my top wager in our New Orleans Saints betting preview based on the odds from our Louisiana sports betting apps.

Carr tossed 14 interceptions in each of the last two seasons. The veteran will benefit from much better weather during road games in the NFC South. But he'll face new defenses and is working with a brand-new receiving corps.

The passer is 10th by the odds to lead the NFL in passing yards in 2023, and with a lofty yardage total comes the added likelihood of interceptions.

Jordan Love to record 4000+ regular-season passing yards (+750 via DraftKings) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

This Love passing prop carries an intriguing edge in the odds, mostly due to the prevailing sentiment of limited expectations for him in the market. Furthermore, the experts behind the trading team at DraftKings appear to be particularly pessimistic about Love's prospects, as well as the Green Bay Packers' outlook as a whole in 2023.

Love's passing-yards projections are in the 3,717 range, which puts him much closer to clearing the required 4,000-plus yard milestone than the +750 price suggests.

NFL player prop bold predictions: Running backs

Travis Etienne to lead the AFC South in rushing yards (+1200 via DraftKings) ⭐

Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor wants out of the Hoosier State, so I’m turning this prop into a two-man race. Tennessee Titans rusher Derrick Henry has led the NFL in carries during three of the past four seasons and has logged 1,750 over his career. That's a lot of mileage.

While there’s a decent gap in my projections for Henry and Etienne, backing the Jaguar is the better bet in this race. I give Etienne a 36.4% chance of finishing the year with more rushing yards than Henry, which equates to a +175 price if we’re indeed turning this into a head-to-head matchup.

Nick Chubb to record the most rushing touchdowns in NFL (+850 via DraftKings) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Chubb is listed as a distant No. 2 on the oddsboard to lead the league in rushing touchdowns at DraftKings with a price of +900, trailing Derrick Henry of the Tennessee Titans and his +550 odds. I’ve already gushed over my expectations for Chubb to clear his 8.5 rushing touchdown total in my Cleveland Browns betting preview. This is another way to capitalize on what could be Chubb's best season yet.

Not only are we betting on Chubb's red-zone role increasing, but this is a wager against Henry staying healthy throughout his age-29 season. I also value the Browns' offensive potential more than the Titans' outlook.

NFL player prop bold predictions: Wide receivers

Tyreek Hill to win Offensive Player of the Year (+2000 via FanDuel) ⭐⭐⭐

Hill finished fourth in the Offensive Player of the Year voting in 2022 while piling up a career-high 119 receptions and 1,710 yards. Joining the Miami Dolphins didn’t slow down “Cheetah,” and he should remain the No. 1 target in a dangerous passing attack while staying in the thick of this betting market all year.

As ridiculous as it sounds, no Patrick Mahomes was no problem for Hill.

Zay Flowers to lead rookies in receiving yards (+600 via DraftKings) ⭐⭐

The rookie out of Boston College possesses the potential to emerge as the No. 1 wide receiver for the Baltimore Ravens. There are elements of uncertainty with wideouts Odell Beckham Jr. (knee) and Rashod Bateman (foot) returning from injuries. Meanwhile, Flowers brings a distinctive skill set, and he’s likely to serve as the team's primary deep threat while also garnering consistent targets to showcase his after-the-catch chops.

Finally, Flowers might be best positioned for immediate success among the 2023 rookie class of wide receivers. Jordan Addison (Minnesota Vikings), Quentin Johnston (Los Angeles Chargers), and Jaxon Smith-Njigba (Seattle Seahawks) will all be competing for targets. And Smith-Njigba is also nursing a serious enough wrist injury to put his Week 1 status in question.

NFL player prop bold predictions: Tight ends

Travis Kelce most regular season receiving touchdowns (+1000 via BetRivers) ⭐⭐

This nod might not jump off the page by the odds across our best NFL prop betting sites, but the last tight end to lead the league in TD catches was Jimmy Graham with the New Orleans Saints in 2013. Kelce found the end zone 12 times in 2022, the third time he celebrated double-digit scores in his career.

The Kansas City Chiefs tight end is the No. 1 target in a dynamic, high-powered offense, and the outlier high number through BetRivers presents a positive expected value of 84% over the +500 odds through DraftKings and Caesars.

NFL player prop bold predictions: Individual defensive players

Kayvon Thibodeaux to lead the league in sacks (+10000 via DraftKings) ⭐⭐

Time to get kuh-razy!

Thibodeaux is laser-focused on skyrocketing his sack total during his second season, telling the New York Post he'll be prioritizing "continuing to sharpen the end of my rush, that third phase and (making) sure I start to finish." And Thibodeaux finished with a higher pressure rate and pass-rush grade than fellow highly touted rookie Aidan Hutchinson in 2022. That's an impressive feat when you consider how raw of a pass-rush threat he was entering the NFL.

The value here is just too good. I envision a path where Thibodeaux takes full advantage of his incredible physical gifts and racks up plenty of QB takedowns in Year 2. At the very least, a hot start will allow me to sell this futures ticket during the season and make a nice return.

Nick Bolton most regular season tackles and assists (+1000 via FanDuel) ⭐⭐

I’m eyeing the long +1000 odds available for Bolton to pace the NFL in tackles during his third season, especially after he recorded consecutive triple-digit combined tackle totals to start his career. He’s a three-down linebacker who played 92% of the defensive snaps for the Kansas City Chiefs in 2022.

Right now I'm aggressively projecting Bolton for 170 combined tackles, meaning he'll be in this race all season. DraftKings is trading this prop at +800 odds, so there’s a positive expected value of 22% attached to this +1000 number.
