The Broncos are coming off a nightmare 2022 season when they finished 5-12 after trading two first-round picks, two second-round picks, and multiple players for veteran quarterback Russell Wilson. Oh, they also signed him to a four-year, $242.5-million contract prior to that losing campaign.
Is Wilson washed? Can former New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton salvage what's left of the nine-time Pro Bowler and former Super Bowl champion?

Consider it a knee-jerk reaction if you wish, but I don't know how anyone can watch what the Broncos put together in their preseason opener against the Arizona Cardinals and come away believing they'll win at least nine games.
The same issues that plagued the five-win team in 2022 appeared in their first action of 2023.

There remains a talent gap between them and the rival Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Chargers, so we have no problem projecting Denver to finish third in the AFC West. The Coach of the Year winner has averaged a turnaround of 5.7 victories from 2011 to 2022. But perhaps the most important factor is making the playoffs. Five of the last seven winners made the postseason after the team failed to do so the year before.

Jerry Jeudy to win Offensive Player of the Year (+12500 via bet365) ⭐
Broncos receiver Jerry Jeudy is a popular pick to produce a breakout season, but the price on this grew substantially after his preseason injury. Still, Jeudy and many of the team's skill-position players stand to benefit with the team expected to improve.
Jeudy has yet to live up to his status as the 15th overall pick in the 2020 draft. But he's entering a second season with Wilson, and his route-running prowess should be a focus of Payton's offense.
The 24-year-old finished just shy of 1,000 yards in 2022. He appeared to hit his stride at the end of the season while going over 100 yards in two of the last three contests.
Broncos Over 381.5 regular-season team points (-110 via DraftKings) ⭐⭐⭐
Payton's teams scored fewer than 381 points in a season just twice over his 15 campaigns in New Orleans - his second year with the team and his last. That's not to say the 2023 Broncos will be the Saints of the 2000s and 2010s.
But an improvement of fewer than 100 points after being the league's lowest-scoring team last season should be the expectation for Denver.
