The New England Patriots were blown out 34-0 for their second consecutive lopsided loss last week, and they’re now down to 1-4 and in the conversation to finish the regular season with the NFL’s worst record.
On the flip side, the Las Vegas Raiders (2-3) snapped a three-game losing streak by topping the Green Bay Packers 17-13 on Monday Night Football and a late interception sealed the deal.

All those Super Bowl wins are a distant memory in New England, where the Patriots are licking their wounds after being outscored 72-3 in their last two games and dropping to 1-4 on the season. But as bad as it is for head coach Bill Belichick, QB Mac Jones, and Co., it’s important to note the quality of competition they’ve faced during that stretch. Philly, Miami, Dallas, and New Orleans are a combined 16-5, while the Jets boast one of the league’s top defenses.
A visit to Las Vegas is a much-needed step down in class as New England looks to get back on track. Jones certainly won’t be lacking for motivation, potentially playing for his starting job after being pulled in each of the Pats’ last two games. He should be better supported by a decent New England running game that the Patriots were forced to abandon when facing huge deficits during the last two weeks.
However, New England’s biggest advantage in this game is on the defensive side of the football, where its defense ranks eighth in total yards allowed per game and sixth against the pass. The Patriots’ pass rush should get home against a Vegas offensive line that has allowed 15 sacks in its last three games, forcing Jimmy Garoppolo — already the league leader in interceptions — into quick decisions and mistakes.
Las Vegas also still hasn't cracked the 20-point plateau in a game offensively, the Raiders are coming off a short week following a tight win over Green Bay on Monday night, and the Silver and Black are a dismal 6-16 ATS in their last 22 games as favorites.
