Although the Lions mustered just 21 points against the Chiefs in Week 1, that was actually an improvement on their road scoring average from last year. While Detroit averaged fewer than 20 points per game in road contests last season, Lions quarterback Jared Goff and Co. dialed it up in their matchups at Ford Field. Detroit led the NFL in home scoring average in 2022, with 33.1 PPG.
Seattle’s secondary allowed 334 passing yards to L.A. Rams quarterback Matt Stafford in Week 1, ranking 31st in pass defense for the week--in a game played at home. Heading into the dome environment where Goff and Detroit's passing offense thrive so considerably, it's unlikely this current Seahawk defense can slow down this machine in Week 2.
While these trends make the Lions an interesting consideration on the point spread, I’m more intrigued by the total, which dropped in our favor throughout the week. Detroit’s secondary should have looked worse than it did against KC, but Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce missed the game and wideout Kadarius Toney can’t catch. It happens.
Seattle’s receivers are leaps and bounds better than what the Chiefs put on display last Thursday night. Look for both teams to find enough passing success to put each offense into the mid-20s or better.

Though this total dropped several points since it opened, take the Over up to 49.5 if the number shifts in the other direction leading up to game time.
