This week's Sunday Night Football matchup features two teams with new-look rosters as the Pittsburgh Steelers (4-2) host the New York Jets (2-4) at 8:20 p.m. ET on NBC.

  • The Jets traded for wide receiver Davante Adams this week in a move that shortened their Super Bowl odds
  • Russell Wilson took first-team reps this week for the Steelers ahead of his expected season debut
  • New York has lost each of its last 19 games outright the week after facing the Buffalo Bills

The Jets enter tonight as the favorites by the latest Sunday Night Football odds, and our Jets vs. Steelers prediction agrees with the line movement to make New York the favorite.

Here's a look at our Sunday Night Football preview as part of our NFL Week 7 predictions following our initial look with the Jets vs. Steelers early picks.

Jets vs. Steelers odds movement: Sunday Night Football

This week's Sunday Night Football matchup has seen some of the most dramatic movement of any game in Week 7.

The Steelers opened as 1.5-point home favorites before the line flipped to Jets -1.5 on Tuesday - which came mere hours before New York traded for star receiver Davante Adams.

The line has continued to move in that direction in the days since then, as our best sportsbooks are offering Jets -2.5 in the hours before kickoff.

We've also seen the total jump from as low as 36 earlier in the week to as high as 40 ahead of tonight's matchup, though you can still bet Over 39.5 if you missed the earlier totals.

Jets vs. Steelers against the spread prediction: Sunday Night Football

Jets to cover the spread: -1.5 (-110) ⭐⭐⭐

Best odds: -110 via FanDuel | Implied probability: 52.38%

Davante Adams should immediately help the offense

Over the last two weeks, the Jets' passing game has become overly reliant on Garrett Wilson, who saw 33 combined targets. Adams’ presence should immediately add more balance, and it should not take him long to get acclimated since he already has a working relationship with Rodgers.

No player has more targets, receptions, yards, or touchdowns from Aaron Rodgers in the NFL than Adams. And from 2017-21, Adams’ final five seasons in Green Bay, they combined for 52 touchdowns, the most by a quarterback-receiver duo in that span.

Rodgers and Adams also have great chemistry in the red zone. Among all quarterback-receiver combinations since 2000, their 53 touchdowns in the red zone rank third.

Adams’ presence should spark a Jets' offense that ranks 18th in red zone touchdown percentage this season (53%). It also helps that he torched Pittsburgh for 13 catches, 172 yards, and two touchdowns last season.

Switching to Wilson may be a downgrade

Justin Fields is 4-2 as a starter this season with a 5-1 TD-INT ratio and five rushing touchdowns (the most by a quarterback).

Since 2022, in the post-Ben Roethlisberger era, all other Steelers quarterbacks besides Fields have combined for a .543 winning percentage, a 49 Total QBR, an average 1.1 TD/INT ratio, and 182 passing and rushing yards per game.

Fields has a .667 winning percentage, 54 Total QBR, 5.0 TD/INT ratio, and an average of 222 passing and rushing yards per game this season.

Fields is on pace for 3,128 passing yards, 654 rush yards, 28 passing and rushing touchdowns combined, and three interceptions. Meanwhile, Russell Wilson’s “claim to fame” is that he was the most sacked quarterback (180 times) over the last five seasons, in large part because he holds onto the ball too long too often.

BetMGM offers a better number (-1), but the -120 odds eat too much into a winning wager's profits.

I am willing to roll the dice with the 1.5-point spread at FanDuel at the standard -110 juice and take my chances that the Jets will win by at least two.

Jets vs. Steelers player prop

Our NEW NFL player prop odds tool can help you find the best odds on any market across legal sportsbooks in your area!

Player prop: George Pickens Under 54.5 receiving yards ⭐⭐⭐⭐

George Pickens leads all Steelers pass catchers in receptions (26), targets (44), and receiving yards (363), and his receptions and yards each rank within the top 24 of all wide receivers.

But Pickens lines up on the bulk of the snaps on the left side, which is Sauce Gardner territory, New York’s best cover cornerback since Darrelle Revis.

The Jets have not allowed a top-20 fantasy wide receiver in the last four weeks. Pickens has also finished outside the top 20 in each game this season.

New York allows the fourth-fewest fantasy points to wide receivers this season and held solid wideouts like Brandon Aiyuk (28 yards), DeAndre Hopkins (nine yards), Jordan Addison (36 yards), and Khalil Shakir (19 yards) to well below their season averages.

A subtle difference exists between the O/U of 54.5 at FanDuel and the 52.5 at BetMGM. Nevertheless, as long as FanDuel is not breaking the bank to back the Under at the higher total, which it isn’t with -113 odds, that is where I am making my wager.

Best odds: -113 via FanDuel | Implied probability: 53.05%
