Eagles -9 to -3

Not only did I take Philadelphia -7.5 in our Beat the Bullseye contest, but I also took a long – and I mean long – look at the Eagles for my survivor contests. There’s been line movement in the Philly direction all week, and if this wasn’t a divisional game on a short week, I would have gone with the Eagles in said pools.

Simply put, Philadelphia continues to prove to be too strong on the offensive and defensive lines, and the Washington Commanders have proven vulnerable to a penetrating pass rush.

The Eagles’ playmakers also outclass the Commanders on both sides of the ball, and most importantly, quarterback might be the biggest talent gap. Washington QB Sam Howell has thrown for just 6.8 yards per pass attempt, and he’s been sacked a league-high 19 times.

Chiefs -8.5 to -2.5

I value the Kansas City Chiefs being able to rest key starters during their 41-10 win over the Chicago Bears last week, and moving this spread below a field goal is a gift. Additionally, something that isn’t being discussed enough yet in most circles is the K.C. defense. 

It’s been sneaky good through three weeks, and a trip to MetLife Stadium to face the Zach Wilson-led New York Jets projects as a lay up.

I’m also skeptical of the Gang Green defense, and if the offense can’t sustain drives, it’s going to be a long night against the rested Chiefs. 

Of course, the trump card is K.C. QB Patrick Mahomes, and I’m confident in him covering the required number on Sunday Night Football.
