The Green Bay Packers and Philadelphia Eagles open the season in Brazil, with the Eagles 2.5-point favorites by the NFL Week 1 odds over one of last season's biggest surprises.

The Packers won six of their final eight regular season games in 2023, then knocked off the Dallas Cowboys in the postseason. Despite their success, they’re underdogs based on Packers vs. Eagles odds at our best NFL betting sites with the betting public backing the Eagles.

But the Eagles stumbled toward the finish line last season and may be favored in this game because of who they were not who they are. Both teams are mid-tier contenders by this season's Super Bowl odds entering Week 1.

This will be a close game that could go either way, but Jordan Love may be better than Jalen Hurts right now, which could be the difference on Friday.

The Eagles opened as 1.5-point favorites, and the line has moved to a full field goal at BetMGM. Every other major sportsbook has the spread at 2.5, and while wagers indicate love for the Eagles, we don’t expect this number to keep growing. By kickoff, this will be 2.5 everywhere.

Over/Under

The Eagles’ defense was putrid to end 2023. They allowed 25 or more points in seven of their last eight games. Considering how Love ended the season, there’s no reason to think the Packers won’t score a lot in this game. And Hurts could do some damage against the Packers as well.

With this being a primetime game between two teams with solid quarterbacks, we expect this number to climb.

While I don’t think the Packers are going to knock off the Detroit Lions in the NFC North, they’re still going to be a force in the NFC this season. Love threw for 4,159 yards and 32 touchdowns last season, and he begins the year against a pass defense that allowed 255.7 yards per game in 2023.

The Eagles could absolutely win this game, but the value is on the Packers. The Eagles lost six of their last seven games in 2023, and while they could be much improved this season, I want to see it on the field before I start backing them.

The price for this moneyline won’t get any better than this. All the early money is on the Eagles, but since this isn’t a true home game, late money is going to back the underdogs in primetime. Get in at this price while you can.
