Lions vs. Texans Early Picks, Predictions & Odds for SNF Week 10

The Detroit Lions look to make it seven wins in a row when they take on the Houston Texans at NRG Stadium, where Houston is 4-0 this season.

Two NFL division favorites meet on Sunday Night Football in Week 10 as the Houston Texans host the Detroit Lions.

  • The Lions, one of the Super Bowl odds front-runners, are amid their longest winning streak (six games) since 2010-11
  • Detroit is off to its best start (7-1) since 1956
  • Houston has lost two of its last three games but is a perfect 4-0 at home this season

Our Lions vs. Texans early picks and odds acknowledge that the line has moved in Houston’s favor as it is expected to get promising news on the injury front, but foresees late support coming in on the favorites.

There is plenty of time for line fluctuation for Sunday's Lions vs. Texans matchup, which kicks off at 8:20 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock from NRG Stadium. These picks are part of our NFL Week 10 predictions

Having played last Thursday in an uninspiring 21-13 loss to the Jets, the Texans benefit from extra rest. However, Houston is just 4-5 ATS in its last nine games with a rest advantage since 2021, and Detroit is being hailed as the best team in the NFC after its 10-point win at Lambeau Field.

The Lions have more touchdowns (28) than incompletions (24) amid their six-game winning streak, and Jared Goff has an 11-0 TD-INT ratio over the last five games. Furthermore, I am backing Detroit’s early three-point spread because it has the NFL’s best point differential (+110).

Moneyline

  • Lions best odds: -164 via FanDuel | Implied probability: 62.12%
  • Texans best odds: +145 via BetMGM | Implied probability: 40.82%

There is a big 11-cent gap between FanDuel’s -164 moneyline odds and BetMGM's -175 to back Detroit outright.

The Texans will be a popular underdog moneyline play given that they are one of five teams with an undefeated home record. But if the point spread moves off the key number of three to +3.5 or higher, more bettors will likely back Houston on the spread than the moneyline.

Spread

  • Lions best odds: -3 (-110) via BetMGM
  • Texans best odds: +3 (-105) via DraftKings

Our best sports betting sites are aligned with the point spread landing on -3, while DraftKings charges the most (-115) to back the favorites.

This line opened as high as Detroit -4.5 at several shops late Sunday night, but Texans backers drove it down to the key number of three. There is optimism that star wide receiver Nico Collins will return from a hamstring injury that landed him on IR since Week 5, likely driving most of the line movement.

Even if Collins is declared active, I don't project this line to go as low as -2.5, as he does not solve Houston’s offensive line woes. Lions backers would be wise to get behind the favorites early before the line ticks back up to -3.5.

Over/Under

  • Over best odds: 48.5 (-115) via FanDuel
  • Under best odds: 49 (-110) via BetMGM

FanDuel is the only one of our best NFL betting sites offering a total of 48.5 points, as all others are a half-point higher at 49.

The Jets pressured C.J. Stroud on a career-high 47% of dropbacks and sacked him eight times last week. Even though Collins’ return would make Houston’s offense more dynamic, the offensive line issues are enough to keep this total from ballooning much higher.

Detroit’s defense allowed just one touchdown last week, and neither the Lions nor the Texans saw their Week 9 games eclipse 38 points. That means we will likely see reactionary Under support from the public.
