Here are both charts for this year to get a visual comparison how they have diverged and while the closing line running average hasn't exactly gone up like the units have gone down, there is still a divergence, even if both charts tend sideways in unison...





Here are the two year charts and the good news is that the closing line running average, which ended last year at .584 and is so far .400 this year, is still beating the closer by more than half a point as .547 overall.

The bad news is the sharp decline in Units...





REMEMBER, ALL CHARTS ARE THROUGH WEEK 10.

Each week I have been saying we should keep an eye on the closer and units but I neglected something very important here that translates to more bad news.

Last year, through week 10, the Totals Fund had 109 plays.

This year there are 35 through week 10. This lack of plays against the market, this lack of discrepancy that is occurring after applying the market factors, is a bigger problem than even struggling vs. the close.

This means the market could be catching up to me and more adjustments should be made. Currently, between the ATS/ML and Totals strategies, we are only getting about 10 plays a week. Last year there more like 15-20 plays.

Next, let's see if it's affecting the ATS/ML Fund through week 10.

We're in fairly sideways pattern here, not unlike last year before there was a unit pop. The good news is that the avg vs the close has been increasing steadily since the early season volatility, even as the units have gone more sideways since the early season drop.



That's the avg. vs the close for this season but here is the UNIT chart since 2018. Looking for that pop, but the season is getting older...

After week 10 of last year there were 71 plays and after week 10 of this year it's 64 plays. Not enough difference to be concerned, I like what's happening with the closer as well.

This Fund just doesn't share the same concerns that the Totals Fund has and it's a smelling a bit like the MLB season as far as the two Funds put together, with the Totals bringing things down.

In the week 9 summary, I also said this, with the .10 cent level in the 2nd quote being in regards to the two year chart...

...I know I've discussed how just a few runaway lines really adjusted that closing line comparison graph down, but we still need to continue to see that comparison rise or this could be a protracted pullback. Things are awfully flat right now and we should expect a big week against the closer in the near future...

I do predict a big week against the closer soon that should help push this back above .10 cents...

...This is getting interesting and if we can see a big week against the close, with a decent set of units on top, we could see a market turn...

While the 6-3 win/loss record was nice, the UPSET Basket had a 7-2 week against the close with an average of +.14 cents for week 10...

Indeed, we did see a pop in both the closing line and units in the UPSET Basket, as predicted . When it comes to the closer, let's hope this little trend upward is the market turn I was predicting would follow, breaking us out in terms of units and getting us over that .10 cent level and towards .13 or .14 cents as I mentioned last week (week 9)...



When it comes to the units, we are still in that sideways or flat channel when you consider the longer term and still half a unit behind last year's finish but we have a very interesting development at the close of week 10...



Remember that little trick about the moving averages crossing? The trick where once they cross the market function continues in the direction it's headed, it has legs left. Well what better time to see it happen than right at the end of the week? Right after a turn upward even? Now those red and black lines don't actually cross but no matter what happens next, they're about to cross.

Week 11 should be a winning week for the UPSET Basket and it is looking like the market turn I predicted would follow a pop in the closer and units after all.

Here's that massive chart, updated through week 10 of this year. Notice how it seems to have found a level of "support" that's been tested a few times in the past...

...Given last year's success with this Fund, we can tolerate some sideways units. But that dropping running average against the close is something to consider. The good news is that we are still clearing the closing line by +.531 points, above a half point.

If that closing line comparison can stabilize, it is just a matter of time before this market turns in our favor...

For week 10, the Fund was 8-0 against the close beating it by an average of 2.44 points. This brings the running average to within .001 of last year's finish.

This Fund had an error with a missed Purdue +170 on October 19th.

All three market functions had their best week against the closing line all season. For the haymaker Fund it's certainly a welcome sign.

...This Fund, despite the wild moves of the bigger moneylines, is virtually dead even against the closing line in both record and average. We are consolidating, and it's a matter of time before this Fund pops both in units and the closing line comparison running average, in my opinion...

So there's the predicted post consolidation pop in the closing line running average, but what of the units?

They didn't go down, at least not noticeably, and if we can manage to stay sideways or go up, but most importantly avoid drops as the closing line running average likely and inevitably pulls back a little after this week, this Fund could be showing signs of recovery, and the reason we are in it this year.

But this was week 10, we still have week 11 to cover and then on to this week, week 12. Let's see how it unfolds.
