Nice call Pitt, you need to make more music requests.
Expect some more down the pipeline here, but I've been putting music in the music thread lately and not here.
That's probably changing though.

#85513It's already Friday, lol, that's how late I got out the week before's NCAAF results. Funny thing is, the results were ready to post on Saturday night, I was way ahead. Looks like the only real story continuing between the weeks was in the UPSET Basket, which behaved just about as I was predicting.
Independent? lol
Damn it Doves, you didn't do your homework, did you?
You didn't track regions like I said, did you? If you had, you wouldn't have posted that link. Well, maybe you would have but it's ok, it's my fault for not being in contact.
I can make a less presumptive case, add that to the list of things I'm trying to get to here in the thread.
Just not liking SBR much anymore, there's nothing to read anymore and it's just a bunch of drama everywhere.
There's no accountability, at all, even among the mods.
Besides, if we get into these next topics, a public space may not be the best place to discuss them.
First, let me get my thinking cap on...

Yeah, just giving you a hard time about the link, it's definitely worth discussion. I think you are right about assumptions being wrong.
At the very least it's about stats from one week driving bettor decisions the next week.
At the most, it goes back to viewing the market through different lenses. Some of those lenses force the dependence of the action.
I'm purposely vague obviously.
Back to NBA...One of the purposes of the these market tracking strategies like the MLB Contrarian Fund is to show the patience required and boy does the NBA require patience.
Here's the KVB MLB Contrarian Fund through 673 plays, 16 of which are the playoffs...

#85523Here's the KVB NCAAF Totals Fund after week 7 with links to each play and a crude closing line comparison.
This Fund was 2-2, -.12 units this week. When comparing the closers, Vegas seemed, for the most part, to be off from the rest of the world and I went with the rest of the world and the more common lines.
Season to date the Totals Fund is 9-15-1 with a record of 1-5 against the OVERs and the one OVER win was the most recent settled play in that night swing game of Wyoming.

Last year the NCAAF Totals Fund had some adversity, but it was above water. This year we're seeing adversity early, despite the Fund making a comeback against the closing line...
Here we go again with the closing line comparison moving opposite the units. Not really worried yet about this Fund as it tends to sharpen as the season progresses. Remember this is not "market function" it's my Total plays. We track the plays but these plays aren't tracking, say, a contrarian Totals market, like the MLB Fund could be considered doing.
That said, let's wrap some prospective around this negative start. Like I said, any recovery that this Fund needed after adversity last year occurred almost exclusively above water. This year has seen us give back most of last year's gains...
This Fund also maintains a longer term crude average here of more than half a point. We're watching that average closely, we want to see it stay above half a point, regardless of the units gained or lost this year.
Last year we see a drop of about 7 units and this year we get the same. So far this year any test of a level has broke downward and we are coming off a little double bottom. While this Fund doesn't track the contrarian Totals market or any market, it does have it's own form of give and take given the adjustments that can be market based in the triggers.
In this sense, we can read the chart a little bit and form expectations but let's hold off and be patient there.

This Fund spent the first half of last year under water and like the Totals Fund we expect this Fund to get sharper as the season goes on. Instead of posting this year's charts, we get a better feel for direction with the overall charts, especially with the closing comparison...
During the rise in units last year we didn't exactly see a rise in the closing line comparison and that running average trended downward. It's really kept doing the same and seems to now be leveling off.
Again, this has market based adjustments so some chart reading is useful but this is not a "market function."
No matter the strategy it's always good to keep an eye on that closer and we really would like to see this Fund averaging closer to if not at half a point, like the Totals, but not quite as successful.
They've always said Totals are softer markets than spreads in NCAAF and just going back a year with these two Funds with that crude closing comparison may provide evidence of that.
So while we want that Totals Fund to average better than .5, say .55 with .6 being great, we want to see that ATS/ML Fund push that .5 level, with .47 ok and .55 being fantastic. With the crude comparison, a solid half point is what we would like to see.
Let's move on to the functions.

Let's look at the UPSET Basket Units.
Last week I made the case that the UPSET Basket could go sideways or down with a series of posts starting here...
Here are the graphs from then, just before week 7 and then up to Friday night...
Now here we after week 7 and the UNITS chart hit a third top in sideways movement before dropping back a bit...
Here's the overall chart with the technical analysis...
Those moving averages haven't crossed, but remember what tends to happen when they do. We get some extra "legs" in whatever direction where moving, this chart is also from last week...
Here's the UPSET Basket pending for this week, let's hope we've ween enough sideways for this month get a rise out of the charts...

The Visiting Dog Fund is another Fund, this time a market function, that also had little adversity last year and spent that above water. After a rise last year the Fund went sideways for about 40 plays before rising again.
Ending last season on a rise, the Fund has pretty much gone sideways this year, through it's first 42 plays...
Once again we want to keep that closing line running average, especially the crude one, over .5 points and this Fund has enjoyed a pretty sizable edge as we've come to expect more like .6 points as the running average. This year it's been closer to .5 points but we've seen a stark uptrend in the difference with this last week and things seem to be picking up in this Fund...

This Fund had 15 plays for -5.6 units for week 7 and was 7-8 against the closing line, beating it by .10. This Fund continues to stay close to flat against the close, despite the large moneylines.
The Fund is -8.81 units but has lost 9 straight bets in rotation order...

Here are this year's charts, after week 7...
I know this Fund wasn't posted last year but to provide context here's last year to the present...
It's looking like this function is pushing another limit and remember this has dropped significantly in the last two years, with a drop of 30 units since the high of 2018.
Remember, this Fund will go on droughts before hitting some plays with higher payouts and we can expect some money back in this Fund soon.
That said, at this writing this Fund has gained 4.7 units on Thursday and Friday of week 8.
One of these weeks, when the dogs bark, this Fund should pull it's weight.

#85536My bad with the Purdue play, now I have a mismatch in my graphs from the actual Fund and the results.
I hate that but we'll get over it, I suppose.
My bad, it was a winner I didn't post.

#85537Fuk for the 3rd post in a row, I can't believe I didn't post a market function play.
It doesn't even matter if it wins or loses, it should have been in the record.
Man that is going to annoy me.
