The curtain closes on the 2025 NFL preseason late Saturday night when the Las Vegas Raiders make the short trek to Arizona to face the Cardinals at 10 p.m. ET at State Farm Stadium (NFL Network, NFL+) in Glendale, Ariz. And we’re offering up our best Raiders vs. Cardinals predictions.

Las Vegas opened as a short underdog, but the line has since flipped with the Raiders now anywhere from a 1.5- to 2.5-point favorite. The primary reason for the line move: Arizona coach Jonathan Gannon is keeping his starters on the sidelines.

Then again, Las Vegas’ first-string units are expected to only get a token look (if that). That’s why we’re passing on the point spread and instead eyeing the total — which is among a bevy of NFL preseason Week 3 predictions.

This pick isn’t about a strong belief in Arizona’s backups - who will be on the field for 60 minutes in this contest - as much as it’s a lack of faith in Las Vegas’ ability to win a preseason game. Because it hasn’t happened in more than two calendar years.

Since taking down the Rams 34-17 as a 3.5-point road favorite in Week 2 of the 2023 preseason, the Raiders haven’t once tasted victory in August. Not only are they 0-4-2 on the field, but they’re 0-for-5 at the betting window when laying points.

This game is likely to begin with Aidan O’Connell (Raiders) and Jacoby Brissett (Cardinals) under center. And it won’t be long before those two second-stringers give way to their backups (Las Vegas rookie Cam Miller and Arizona third-year pro Clayton Tune).

The Raiders and their opponents topped 40 points in their first two preseason games, and they’ve done so in four of their last six preseason finales. But Las Vegas also has scored 21 points or fewer in 17 of its last 27 exhibition contests.

Meanwhile, the Cardinals haven’t cracked 20 points in the preseason since a 26-23 loss at Tennessee in the 2022 finale — a stretch of eight games. Only two of those games cleared 37 points.
