The Indianapolis Colts are road 'dogs heading into Minnesota against the Vikings, but can they keep it close like they have all season?

The Indianapolis Colts and Minnesota Vikings each look to rebound from losses as they head into Week 9 Sunday Night Football matchup from U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.

  • Indianapolis is coming off its first loss at the Houston Texans since 2019
  • Minnesota is seeing its odds to win the NFC North slip as it has lost two straight games following a 5-0 start
  • The Vikings have led after the first quarter in every game this season, including double-digit leads in four of the seven games at the end of the first quarter

Minnesota has lost back-to-back games as favorites, and as part of our Week 9 NFL predictions, we make our Colts vs. Vikings early picks and odds expect it to struggle again as a 6-point home favorite. Kickoff for SNF is set for 8:20 p.m. ET, airing on NBC and Peacock.

Six points is considered a big spread between any two NFL teams, and it becomes even more eye-popping when considering how competitive each Colts game has been this season.

Indianapolis is the first team in NFL history to have its first eight games decided by six or fewer points. Meanwhile, Minnesota’s offense will be compromised until it can find a suitable replacement for standout left tackle Christian Darrisaw, who the team lost to season-ending knee surgery last week.

Moneyline

  • Vikings best odds: -250 via Caesars | Implied probability: 71.43%
  • Colts best odds: +265 via FanDuel | Implied probability: 27.40%

As recently as Monday morning, Minnesota had as high as a 77.78% implied probability based on BetMGM’s -350 odds. Certain trends support its case of winning outright, as Indianapolis has lost seven consecutive games outright as underdogs to NFC opponents.

The Vikings are just 2-2 SU as favorites this season, but it will be interesting to see if the line movement continues to go in the Colts’ favor, as this is the Vikings’ first game that they have been more than -150 moneyline favorites.

Spread

  • Vikings best odds: -5.5 (-110) via Caesars
  • Colts best odds: +6 (-110) via BetMGM

Over the last 24 hours, this line made significant movement off the key number of seven with heavy support on the underdogs.

Both teams rank in the top six of most profitable ATS teams. Indianapolis has covered a league-best seven of its eight games, while Minnesota is 5-2 ATS.

Given that the Colts’ four losses have been by a combined 14 total points, I am grabbing all the +6’s I can find before sharps continue to pound the underdogs.

Over/Under

  • Over best odds: Over 45 (-120) via BetMGM
  • Under best odds: Under 45.5 (-105) via FanDuel

BetMGM is the only one of our top sports betting sites offering an O/U of 45, while FanDuel is the only one charging less than the standard -110 juice to back the Under.

Minnesota is coming off season lows in points (20) and rushing yards (64). And without its left tackle, I would expect the Under to be the more popular side of the total, with the game more likely kicking off at 45 or lower than 45.5 or higher.
