Bills vs. Buccaneers Prediction, Odds & Expert Picks: NFL Preseason Week 3

The Buffalo Bills will again be without Josh Allen, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will rest their starters as we attempt to make the best Bills vs. Buccaneers prediction. The Bills are the 2.5-point favorites for Saturday’s 7:30 p.m. ET (ESPN Unlimited) game in Tampa.
Buffalo is 0-2 this preseason, and it was shut out 38-0 in the club's last game. Meanwhile, the Buccaneers have won both of their contests, despite Baker Mayfield not playing a snap. Who do we think holds the advantage as part of our NFL preseason Week 3 predictions?

The Buccaneers aren’t playing their starters, but that's been the case at a lot of key positions this preseason, and they’re still 2-0. The offense is averaging 23 points per game, while the defense has given up just 21 total.
The Bills may boast the more experienced backups on paper, but the team has been looking lethargic all preseason. Buffalo managed just 180 yards while allowing 528 in its last game. The offense didn’t score, despite Mitchell Trubisky getting meaningful playing time.
Trubisky, Mike White, and Shane Buechele are all expected to play for Buffalo on Saturday. They each performed well in Week 1 against the New York Giants, but all three were so bad against the Chicago Bears that I can’t back the Bills as favorites, even against second-, third-, and fourth-stringers.

The Bills have allowed 34-plus points in each of their preseason games. If that continues, then this Over will easily hit. However, the Buccaneers scored just 17 in their last game, and the total in both of the team's preseason outings has been 36 or fewer.
With both teams resting starters, whether the Over or Under will hit is a tossup. However, I’ll back the Over because of what the Bills’ quarterbacks are playing for this week.
Each one is competing to back up Allen, and it’s hard to imagine the Bills hold confidence in any of them after last week. All three players showed potential against the Giants, and I expect them to enjoy more success against the Buccaneers’ defensive backups on Saturday.
