Last week we cashed with Michigan against the spread and under in the Nebraska/Oklahoma game, with our only miss being Auburn as a sizeable underdog to Penn State.

Let’s make it a sweep in our college football picks for Week 4 in the schoolboy ranks!

Notre Dame Fighting Irish vs. Wisconsin Badgers

Saturday, September 25, 2021 - 12:00 PM EDT at Soldier Field

Despite Wisconsin being listed to the right, this is a neutral site game and the Badgers will not have home-field advantage. Sounds rather rudimentary but you have no idea how many novice bettors will look at this and assume the Irish are traveling to Badger Country.

Okay, now that that’s out of the way, the undefeated and currently ranked No. 18 team in the nation, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, are 5 to 5 ½ point underdogs to the 1-1 Wisconsin Badgers who lost, 16-10, to Penn State to open their season. The only thing Wisconsin has over Notre Dame heading into this matchup is an additional week of rest as they are coming off of their bye.

Both teams are equipped to score but the Badgers have a grand total of zero touchdown passes after two games. They rely heavily on the run, and that bodes well for the Irish. I think the college football odds being dealt at all of the best online sportsbooks have the wrong favorite in this game.

If you can’t pass, you can’t win in today’s game which means Notre Dame on the moneyline is a solid bet here.

Tennessee Volunteers vs. Florida Gatorsrida

Saturday, September 25, 2021 - 07:00 PM EDT at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium

This is an SEC Saturday night showdown between a Tennessee team that beats up the little guys like Bowling Green and FCS entry, Tennessee Tech but loses to a decent ACC team like Pittsburgh, against a Gators’ squad that nearly shocked the invincible Alabama Crimson Tide last week. And just who do you think the public will be on in this one?

Of course, Joe Q. Public will be all over the Gators because they’ll be “really, really, mad” after dropping a 31-29 decision to Nick Saban’s juggernaut at the Swamp. So, the thinking goes they will take out all of that bitter disappointment on their conference rivals from Knoxville this week.

It’s a nice story but the one thing the public is forgetting is the 20-point head start the Vols are getting from the books. That’s nearly three touchdowns for a good team that has the capacity to strike through the air as well as several decent options in the backfield to chew up rushing yards and tick time off the clock.

Let’s not forget that losing a heartbreaker to a vaunted opponent does not always mean the team is locked and loaded to devour an inferior opponent the following week.

We have seen letdowns in this spot on many occasions and Tennessee is just good enough to give the Gators a game and stay within the margins.

Akron Zips vs. Ohio State Buckeyes

Saturday, September 25, 2021 - 07:30 PM EDT at Ohio Stadium

The Buckeyes got a shock two weeks ago when they lost to underestimated Oregon, yet, rebounded with a 41-20 win over Tulsa, however failing to cover the 24 ½ point impost. As a matter of fact, Ohio State is 0-2-1 ATS this season but two of their three games have gone over the posted total. While Ohio State’s offense is supremely capable of scoring, their defense is not nearly as good as it has been in recent memory.

This adds up to an excellent opportunity to cash with the over in this game. The Buckeyes will have no problem moving up and down the field against the Zips which means they could cover the enormous 49-point spread. And even if they don’t cover, there is little doubt they will score somewhere in the mid to high 50’s.

The total on this matchup is 67 ½ but it’s not high enough because we know Ohio State is going to rack up oodles of points. But consider Akron, a team averaging 25 points per game, and one that scored 10 against Auburn, a better defensive team than Ohio State, and I see this game totaling somewhere in the high 70’s.

Let’s fly high and go over here.
