Texas Tech vs. Colorado Prediction: Week 5 Odds, Picks & Best Bet
Last Updated: October 3, 2026 11:30 AM EDT • 2 minute read X Social Google News Link
My best Texas Tech vs. Colorado prediction highlights how Colorado changing its starting quarterback won't do much to kickstart the offense. I also explain why No. 12 Texas Tech may struggle to run the ball against a defense that has been excellent against running backs this season.
Texas Tech is favored by 13.5 points ahead of tonight's 7:30 p.m. ET game at Folsom Field in Boulder, Colo. The game will air on FOX and stream on FOX One.

💰 Texas Tech vs. Colorado prediction & best bet

Under 50.5 (-110 via bet365)
Colorado is averaging just 21.5 points per game, which is tied for 114th in the nation. Quarterback Julian Lewis has been benched for Isaac Wilson, but I don't expect Wilson's presence to change anything for this passing attack. This season, Wilson has completed just 51.9% of his passes for 153 yards.
While Texas Tech is averaging 36.3 points per game, the only time the Red Raiders have topped that number was last week against Sam Houston. Colorado allowed 41 points to Northwestern but hasn't allowed more than 23 points in any other game, including two against Power 4 teams.
📡 SBR Edge: Colorado's struggles against Power 4 teams
Colorado has scored 24 or fewer points against every Power 4 opponent since Shedeur Sanders left the team. The offense has managed 17 or fewer points in seven of its last eight games against such opponents.
Colorado's rush defense should cause problems
Texas Tech ranks 48th in rushing yards per game and is averaging 4.67 yards per carry. However, Colorado enters this game with one of the nation's best rush defenses. While Colorado ranks 51st in rushing yards allowed per game, the Buffaloes rank 40th in yards allowed per carry, giving up just 3.25 per rush attempt.
For Texas Tech, J'Koby Williams has been the more effective back, rushing for 6.2 yards per carry. However, the team continues to give the majority of attempts to Cameron Dickey, who is averaging just 4.3 yards per carry. If one or both backs struggle, Texas Tech will be forced to throw, which is bad news for the team tied for the third-most interceptions this season.
Score prediction: Texas Tech 27 Colorado 10
