A West Coast tilt between a couple of 1-loss Big 10 teams will be on full display during my Washington vs. USC prediction. No. 18 USC just lost to No. 18 Oregon, unable to keep pace with the Ducks in the 2nd half, while the Huskies also lost their conference opener to Minnesota.

USC is an -8.5-point betting favorite at home from Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in Los Angeles, with opening kickoff set for 7:30 p.m. ET (NBC).

Over 58.5 (-105 via FanDuel)

USC is going to be ready to roll following another disappointing loss to Oregon. The Trojans, led by QB Jayden Maiava, are averaging 39.8 points per game, 25th out of 136 FBS teams.

Maiava has a ton of experience in head coach Lincoln Riley's system. He should be able to shred Washington's pass defense that just surrendered 3 passing touchdowns to Minnesota QB Drake Lindsey in Week 4.

The Trojans' rushing attack has been a big piece of Riley's offense as a catalyst for successful drives. Washington's been good on run defense, limiting opponents to 3.2 YPC, but USC running backs King Miller and Waymond Jordan are each averaging 5.0 YPC in 2026.

Since opening, the lines have shifted from 57.5 to 58.5. USC's defense has allowed 460 yards of offense to Rutgers and Oregon in consecutive outings, surrendering 76 points during this recent stretch.

📡 SBR Edge: Trojan Horsepower

USC's offense has scored 39+ points in 4 of its 5 matchups this season.

Maiava Leads USC's Offense To A Shootout Win Over the Huskies

The Huskies will make their first road start of the 2026 season. Washington's QB, Demond Williams Jr., has played well, throwing for over 1,100 yards with 7 touchdowns, including 4.1 YPC and a pair of rushing touchdowns, as Washington's leading ball carrier.

Washington will score a few touchdowns in this game against a soft USC scoring defense ranked 100th in the nation in points allowed per game (26.4). However, Maiava should be able to outpace Washington with his big-arm talent. He's thrown for at least 260 yards and 9 combined passing touchdowns during his last 3 starts.

Score prediction: USC 41, Washington 33.
