Auburn vs. Tennessee Prediction: Week 5 Odds, Picks & Best Bet
Last Updated: October 2, 2026 5:00 PM EDT • 2 minute read X Social Google News Link
My Auburn vs. Tennessee prediction focuses on Auburn's ability to get to the quarterback. While No. 17 Tennessee lost by just three to Texas last week, the offensive line struggled and now has to face one of the best pass rushes in the nation Saturday.
Below, I explain why Tennessee's stats are inflated by three easy opponents to start the season and how Auburn could win this game outright. Tennessee is a 7-point betting favorite, with kickoff from Neyland Stadium in Knoxville, Tenn., set for 3:30 p.m. ET (ESPN).

Auburn +7 (-105 via bet365)
One of the main reasons I love Auburn to cover is that the Tigers do a phenomenal job getting after the quarterback. This season, Auburn has recorded 11 sacks for an average of 2.75 per game. That's tied for the 27th-most per game this season.
While Tennessee's quarterback Faizon Brandon has yet to throw an interception this season, he was sacked 10 times by Texas last week. Though he was only sacked once in each of his first three games, one of those opponents was FCS Furman, and the other two are both 1-3 thus far.
Auburn's defense has been excellent this season, allowing just 20.8 points per game, despite already facing two SEC teams, including No. 8 Florida. Auburn has allowed 16 or fewer points to three of its four opponents.
📡 SBR Edge
Auburn has been excellent at drawing penalties this season, with opponents averaging 76.5 penalty yards per game. That ranks 11th in the nation. Tennessee is one of the most penalized teams in the country, averaging 69.3 penalty yards per contest.
Auburn's rush defense will do enough to cover
When Auburn played Florida, the Gators rushed for 243 yards and four touchdowns, racking up 4.5 yards per carry. Despite that performance, Auburn is still only allowing 3.1 yards per carry, which ranks 33rd in the nation, even though the Tigers have faced three Power 4 teams in their first four games.
Tennessee is averaging the 14th-most rushing yards per game but only managed 70 on 44 carries against Texas. Texas is allowing 2.84 yards per carry this season, which is just 12 spots better than Auburn nationally.
Score prediction: Auburn 24, Tennessee 20
