Jaguars vs. Saints Predictions, Odds & Expert Picks: NFL Preseason Week 2

Two squads that stumbled in their preseason openers are set to clash at 1 p.m. ET Sunday at the Caesars Superdome, where the New Orleans Saints host the Jacksonville Jaguars (NFL Network, NFL+). And we’ve got you covered with our Jaguars vs. Saints predictions.
Oddsmakers certainly believe Jacksonville is poised to rebound from an upset home loss to AFC South rival Indianapolis. After all, the Jaguars are a 3.5-point road favorite against a New Orleans team that no-showed in its 2025 debut at the Chargers.
As bad as the Saints looked in that one, can you really trust Jacksonville to cover more than a field goal on the road - in a preseason game? Find the answer below among our slew of NFL preseason Week 2 predictions.

New Orleans projects to be one of the NFL’s worst teams in 2025 - as evidenced by the fact the team’s consensus win total of 5.5 is tied for the lowest in the league. And the Saints certainly lived down to those expectations in their preseason opener, spotting the Chargers a 24-3 lead en route to a 27-19 loss as a 2.5-point underdog.
Then again, it’s not like Jacksonville looked like a Super Bowl contender in its first game, falling to Pittsburgh 31-25 at home - as a 6-point favorite, no less. In fact, discounting a Lions-Falcons game that was suspended in the third quarter, favorites are 4-9-2 SU and 4-11 ATS in the preseason (Hall of Fame game included).
Granted, New Orleans was on the wrong end of one of those results. At the same time, the Jaguars were among several large favorites that lost outright in Week 1. So swallow hard and take the points in this one.

Am I high on the New Orleans Saints in 2025? Hardly. And who could be when the current quarterback rotation is Spencer Rattler, Jake Haener and rookie Tyler Shough? Barring a blockbuster trade - which is highly unlikely - one of those three guys will be under center in Week 1 of the regular season. That’s frightening if you’re a Saints fan.
However, we’re not talking about the regular season right now. We’re talking mid-August, a time when starters often only play sparingly. That figures to be the case with Jacksonville on Sunday.
Yes, the Jaguars’ first-string offense and defense, both of which played one series against Pittsburgh last week, should see more action in New Orleans. But it’s not like they’re going to play the vast majority of the game - and as we saw against the Steelers, Jacksonville’s backups aren’t exactly ready for prime time. And they sure can’t be trusted to cover more than a field goal on the road.
As for the Saints, all three of their mediocre (and that’s being generous) quarterbacks will get time under center, with Rattler and Shough probably getting the bulk of the minutes. Both had their moments versus the Chargers - Rattler went 7-for-11 for 53 yards, while Shough was 15-for-22 for 165 yards, including a 54-yard TD pass … that was offset by a pick-6.
Obviously, neither inspire much confidence (although Shough clearly has the most upside). Then again, Skyler Thompson and Mason Rudolph don’t inspire much confidence, either. And yet those two Steelers quarterbacks combined to go 29-for-38 for 317 yards, four touchdowns and zero picks in Jacksonville a week ago.
If the Jags’ defense plays less than a half (which is likely), the Saints will be live to at least cover this point spread - if not win outright.
