The Drake Maye era began in New England last week with mixed results. This year’s third-overall pick threw three touchdown passes in his starting debut against the Houston Texans, but he also turned the ball over three times in a 42-21 loss.

To suggest that New England’s passing game is more explosive with Maye under center would be an understatement. Maye needed just 51 minutes last week to take the team lead in passing touchdowns, surpassing the two that Jacoby Brissett threw in the Pats’ first five games combined.
Granted, two of those touchdown throws came in garbage time with New England down three scores. However, this Jacksonville defense is easier to beat through the air than the Houston Texans unit that Maye faced in Week 6. The Jags have allowed each of their last four opponents to throw for two or more touchdowns, including four last week by Caleb Williams.

Unlike Bo Nix and many other rookie quarterbacks who are afraid to make mistakes, Maye is happy to take shots down the field. His first career touchdown came on a 40-yard bomb to Kayshon Boutte, completing an 84-yard drive that took just 59 seconds. Maye later added a 35-yard TD strike to DeMario Douglas.
“That’s the biggest thing I’ve got to do: Get (our receivers) the ball and let them make plays,” he told the Associated Press afterward.
Look for Maye to stay aggressive against a Jaguars secondary that has allowed the most completions of 20-plus yards in the NFL this year.

We cashed a longest rush Over ticket with Williams last week against this Jaguars defense, and I’ll go back to the well. Jacksonville continues to struggle to contain mobile quarterbacks, having allowed runs of 11-plus yards in five of six games this season.
Maye showed last week that he’s more than happy to pull the ball down and run with it, gaining 38 yards on five carries against the Texans - including runs of 11 and 15 yards.
Many sportsbooks posted Maye’s longest rush total at 12.5, but BetMGM listed this prop at one yard less and at even odds to boot.
