With rookie QB Shedeur Sanders nursing an oblique injury, the Cleveland Browns’ already unclear quarterback situation takes a hit ahead of their NFL preseason Week 2 clash with the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles.
Our Browns vs. Eagles predictions examine what Sanders’ absence means for Cleveland’s chances - and how to bet the spread and total as part of our NFL preseason Week 2 predictions. The Eagles are favored by 3.5 to 4.5 points at our best sports betting sites, with kickoff set for today at 1 p.m. ET (NFL Network) from Lincoln Financial Field.

The Browns have been the talk of the NFL over the past week, with Sanders’ inspired performance being a big reason they scored 30 points in the preseason opener. But we are using that buzz to fade what should be a popular pick, giving more faith to Philadelphia’s overall depth.
The Eagles beat the Cincinnati Bengals 34-27 in their preseason opener, clawing back from a 14-7 deficit after Cincinnati’s starters scored two quick touchdowns in the first quarter. The Eagles went on a 27-3 run from there, as quarterback Tanner McKee completed 80% of his passes and three running backs ran for 5.3 yards per carry or better.
Only one team (the New England Patriots) scored more points than Philadelphia last week, and its depth down to the second- and third-string units is why I agree with this line movement from an opening number of -1.5.
While other best sports betting apps like DraftKings moved to -4.5 after Sanders’ injury news, I am making this wager at the lone sportsbook still offering a spread under four points.

With still some uncertainty about how each team’s quarterback plans will shake out, I am fading the public perception and backing the Under on a game in which both teams scored a combined 64 points the week prior.
This becomes a more confident four-star play if news breaks that Dillon Gabriel will get the start for Cleveland instead of the veteran Joe Flacco or Kenny Pickett. Gabriel went 1-for-5 passing with an interception in these teams’ second joint practice, whereas Flacco completed 70% of his passes with a 2-0 TD-INT ratio.
With Sanders already showing his capabilities last week, the pressure is on Gabriel to perform. I also expect slight regression from McKee, who finished with the ninth-highest EPA per dropback among quarterbacks who had a minimum of seven dropbacks in Week 1.
