Las Vegas plays host to a Week 2 preseason showdown against San Francisco, and my 49ers vs. Raiders predictions like the visitors to cover the spread as betting underdogs.

The Raiders are 4.5-point betting favorites at the best NFL betting sites, with the total set at O/U 41.5 points. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. ET (NFL Network) from Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

San Francisco head coach Kyle Shanahan has announced that key starters, like Brock Purdy, should play at least two series. For the Raiders, expect to see a healthy dose of Aidan O’Connell again, after he threw for 205 yards and two interceptions in Week 1. The 49ers were blown out in their first preseason game, but none of their key players saw the field. Shanahan has already said that he wants Purdy to get a few reps on Saturday, and if he’s successful, the 49ers may do enough scoring in their first two drives to secure this cover.

After Purdy, expect to see Mac Jones, who completed 4-of-7 passes for 74 yards and an interception last week. Jones is a capable backup and should do just fine against a defense that allowed 23 points and 392 yards to the Seattle Seahawks.

The Raiders have been quieter about their plans for Saturday, but it would be shocking to see Geno Smith on the field much after he was just 1-of-3 for 15 yards in Week 1. The Raiders have an experienced and capable backup in O’Connell, but his two-interception performance was worrisome. This game is more of a toss-up than oddsmakers think. Take the points.

I’m banking on Jones and O’Connell leading both of their teams against backups. These are two quarterbacks who were leading offenses during the regular season just last year, and despite struggling last week, both are more than capable of putting together solid performances.

We know Purdy will play, and I have to assume Shanahan will let him open it up a little bit while he’s on the field. The only real worry is whether or not third and fourth stringers will start to take over as the game wears on. If that happens, then scoring could completely halt. That said, Raiders’ rookie quarterback Cam Miller was very successful in his NFL debut, completing 6-of-7 passes for 76 yards and a touchdown, so I have some confidence in him if he sees the field for an extended time.
