The seventh-seeded Washington State Cougars and 10th-seeded Drake Bulldogs meet in the first round of the East Region on Thursday in the NCAA Tournament, as we offer our Drake vs. Washington State player props based on the best March Madness odds.
Opening day of March Madness culminates with an intriguing clash between the Drake Bulldogs and Washington State Cougars. Tip-off is set for 10:05 p.m. ET on truTV.
The Cougars return to March Madness for the first time since 2008, when they reached the Sweet 16 before a lopsided loss to North Carolina. However, they enter as underdogs against the lower-seeded Drake. Drake was a trendy upset pick last year but faltered in the first round due to a disappointing showing from star Tucker DeVries.

Last year, DeVries scored just three points on 1-of-13 shooting in his NCAA Tournament debut against a Miami team that eventually reached the Final Four. I'd be shocked if we see him fall flat in his second shot at tournament glory.
DeVries, the son of coach Darian DeVries, has done it all for the Bulldogs, leading the team in points (21.8) and assists (3.6) while ranking second in rebounds (6.8) per game. He's been especially prolific during the latter half of the season, averaging 35 PRA over his final 19 games while clearing this prop total in 16 of them.
Washington State pulled off a remarkable season under Kyle Smith, and its top-30 defense will be perhaps the toughest that DeVries faced all season. That's baked into this total, though, and it feels like too much of an overreaction in a game that Drake is favored to win.
I also have a tough time believing that DeVries won't have the ball in his hands every trip down the court if it's a close game in the second half. The 6-7 forward ranks in the top 35 nationally in usage rate (30.8%), and he's also added five or more rebounds in 16 straight games and 28 of 33 games overall this season.
Given that his points prop is around 20.5 across our best sports betting sites, I'll gladly add his rebound and assist totals in a game that should feature DeVries prominently.

Drake vs. Washington State spread & Over/Under analysis
Drake opened as a 1.5-point underdog to beat Washington State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. By Monday, that line had flipped in favor of the Bulldogs, who are now consensus favorites to win outright and should remain that way barring some dramatic action on the underdog Cougars.
The total has also bounced around between 137.5 and 138.5, with most of our best live betting sites skewing to the higher end of that range. That makes sense given the potential firepower on display with DeVries and Washington's quarter of double-digit scorers.
