Sorry that occurred Batt. Seems it might take an event like this to beat him between the pre race nerves and the bad break.

He will be back. I think your trainer has done a super job with him and most likely will off this race as well.
Just wasn't his day..... Yes Blacker has!

Straight No Chaser Post Race Update

Straight No Chaser bounced out of the G1 Golden Shaheen in good order this morning. Trainer Dan Blacker passed along the video above of him, reporting he jogged up sound and is good spirits. Straight No Chaser is currently scheduled to leave Dubai on Wednesday and we will follow up with any additional information.

rispoli .... is another " Toro on the turf"! Fernando Toro was a grass race specialist .. back about 30 years ago. Berrios is another good turf rider.

yes I agree and lot's of repect from ml maker imo factoring she's never been on the grass..interesting to me 2 consecutive dirt wins ,second one being on new years day and they give her more than 3 months off and switch surfaces ..resumed workouts fairly quickly since that last race also

That was a winning race in a lot of spots and she has always struck me as a trainer that when her horse gives a winning effort but cannot beat that competition, she makes it a point to get that horse in a spot next out where if it repeats that effort, it is good enough to win.
Let's see about that next race.
    no problem str

yeah allard's horse ran great..did all the dirty work and just beat at the wire ..$120k difference in purse ..guess you feel good about the effort but the money part stings especially with all the effort to ship here

with linda rice's those races he ran at aqu carry an 80k+ purse and with what they won already with him might try that again .. maybe less chance he's taken for $80k also

just saw the race she claimed out of where he just missed was a drop from the bold ruler stakes ..maybe a similiar choice for next race

linda rice has an "8yo" she claimed 4 starts back who ran a career high figure last start

generally speaking a WP bet vs a win bet of the same total amount pays about 75% of the win only bet

    Straight No Chaser Race Recap

Straight No Chaser failed to fire today after a rough trip in the Dubai Golden Shaheen.

He stumbled at the start, and that pretty much did him in. Forced to attempt to rate while in between horses, he took tons of kickback and never looked comfortable at all. He continued to drop back while really fighting with the dirt down the backside and into the turn, and at that point was left with an impossible task over a very speed-friendly surface. He made a mild run in the lane and did seem to be moving fine once the field spread out and he wasn’t taking so much kickback.

We’ll see how he comes back, but at this point it just seems like a race that you draw a line through and move on. You simply can’t have that early trouble against world-class sprinters—especially on that track which is historically kind to speed on World Cup night and which has been notably producing a lot of kickback today. The fact that the winner, who was 65-1 in the U.S. pool, went gate to wire is further evidence that the track made an impact.

As we’ve mentioned previously, having already locked up a stud deal for Straight No Chaser does take a bit of the sting out of what was no doubt a disappointing outing. We’ll get our champ back to the States, regroup, and get him ready for a productive second half of the season.

I totally don't understand why the starter did not at least give her a second or two to get herself together.

This is another MUST watch when she runs back. That was actually a great effort on only one lead the entire race and she is trying to finish !

Look for a much better effort next out as long as the starter gives her a friggin second or two to get balanced. Jeez.

If we are doing a must watch or play next out list, you have two prime candidates with these last two.

my original parlay number of +1100 was off by a lot as i figured a win vs WP bet.. sharpness is gone and I apologize

so the math since I messed up

    9-2 = +450 x .75(WP bet) 3.4 (round off)

    100+340 =440 * 2.2 (6-5) = 968 -100
    say +870

the struggle to do this for me is scary .. used to be like nothing ..if it's wrong this time it ain't by much..sorry again and corrected above

Just watched this horse. She was never into the bit and looked disinterested too me. You never know. She might have just not felt well although not showing a temperature yet, or something was bugging her. Don't know but the rider is asking her to get in the game early and she just had no interest. Late switching back to the right lead through the lane as well. More disinterest if that is not the norm.

If she breezes better than normal before her next race, that could be a real key that whatever was not right with her then, is just fine now. And being a filly, they do have menstrual cycles and when they are " horsing" it can certainly affect their performance.

Well worth keeping an eye on her next out. She is much better than she was yesterday.

My assumption would be that this is a speed horse that burned up early and faded in the stretch? He was probably
"pulling" the rider out of the saddle early. That would be " running off" and certainly not relaxing and breathing well. Probably spent after 3/8ths or a 1/2?
