Patrick Mahomes is looking to capture his fourth Super Bowl ring in five appearances when his Kansas City Chiefs take on the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, Feb. 9, at 6:30 p.m. ET (FOX) from the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.

While he's just eight years into his professional career with seven as a starter, Mahomes' Super Bowl history is like a Taylor Swift song, chock-full of highlights with a few cringe-worthy moments tossed in.

With a victory on Sunday, his stock in the Tom Brady vs. Patrick Mahomes GOAT debate would rise as quickly as Travis Kelce leaping for a jump ball in his prime.

But first, he'll need to get past a familiar foe that he's already taken down in the Big Game once before.

Here is a look at every previous Super Bowl that Mahomes has started entering Chiefs vs. Eagles in Super Bowl 59.

Mahomes is 3-1 in the Super Bowl, winning his first appearance against the San Francisco 49ers at Super Bowl 54. He lost to the Brady-led Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 31-9, at Super Bowl 55 in his only loss in the championship round.

Thanks to back-to-back inspired performances in his next two Super Bowls, one against these very same Eagles at Super Bowl 57, Mahomes is on course to complete the Chiefs Super Bowl three-peat.

While there are countless reasons the Chiefs are in the midst of one of the more impressive dynastic runs in NFL history, Mahomes is front and center. The adage "the Chiefs only go as far as Mahomes" is exemplified perfectly by his stats in Super Bowl wins vs. the lone Super Bowl loss.

While the difference in average passing yards is negligible - which makes sense considering how quickly one can rack up yards when trailing by a bunch - some stark differences help showcase Mahomes' dominance in his Super Bowl wins.

Turn your attention to his completion percentage, passing touchdowns, passer rating, and, to a lesser extent, his rushing yards. When Mahomes is ticking, he's accurate, poised, decisive, and plays with the conviction of few others. On the rare occasion that he's not, the Chiefs QB transforms from Marvel immortal to a middle-aged man with a dad bod.

Mahomes' Super Bowl history: Big Game weaknesses

As Mahomes' performance against the Buccaneers was woeful throughout, I'm omitting it from his Big Game strengths and weaknesses comparison. There weren't any strengths to boast about, while his collective body of work in that game could be tossed into the weakness pile.

While Mahomes' Big Game resume speaks for itself, some glaring areas of weakness stick out like Josh Allen's sore thumb - including a propensity to turn the ball over, an inability to get off on the right foot, and an increased interception rate just after the halftime interval.

1st half disappointment: Starting on the wrong foot

Maybe there's too much preamble, or perhaps the Star-Spangled Banner is bellowed for too long, which you can learn more about with the Super Bowl national anthem odds. Whatever it is, the first half has gone about as well for Mahomes as Allen's postseason misfortunes against the Chiefs.

In Mahomes' three Super Bowl victories, he's accumulated 27 first-half points, a measly average of nine. Only one of his seven passing touchdowns came in the first half, which occurred in his first Super Bowl triumph over the 49ers, and he has led the Chiefs to points on only four of 13 first-half drives.

He hasn't led at halftime in any appearance, with his best result at the interval a 10-10 tie in Super Bowl 54 versus San Francisco. Going into the extended intermission, highlighted by the Super Bowl halftime prop bets, Mahomes has trailed by a combined 44-27 in his three victories.

Butterfingers and interceptions

Five picks and five fumbles in four games make for terrifying reading. Imagine leading with that stat and neglecting to mention anything else when staking Mahomes' GOAT case. You'd be laughed out of the building like the Denver Broncos at Super Bowl 48.

Four of his five picks occurred in the third quarter, three of which came in his three victories. His third-quarter inaccuracy is probably just an extension of his first-half woes, his final cardinal sins before waking from an inexplicable comatose state.

Regarding his fumbles, none of the five he let slip out of his slick hands resulted in a Chiefs turnover. He'll hope that continues in Super Bowl 59.

There are way more strengths than weaknesses, but one theme jumps out more than the rest: his late-game heroics. He continually stakes his case as the comeback king, saving the best case studies for the ultimate stage.

The Chiefs have only been outscored once in the fourth quarter in Mahomes' three Big Game wins. That occurred in last year's Super Bowl when the 49ers had the 9-6 fourth-quarter edge, though the Chiefs responded with a 6-3 advantage in overtime to win it.

In his first two Super Bowl victories, Mahomes' Chiefs outscored the 49ers and Eagles by a combined 38-8 score in the fourth quarter to cap off 10-point comebacks in both games.

With Mahomes under center, the Chiefs scored 61 second-half points in the three successes, including 21 unanswered against San Francisco in the fourth quarter of Super Bowl 54.

In those three triumphs, the Chiefs outscored the 49ers and Eagles by a combined 61-30 in the fourth quarter. In addition, nine of the Chiefs' 10 fourth-quarter drives resulted in either a field goal or a touchdown.

Mahomes may turn over a new leaf on Sunday and enter the halftime break with the lead. Then again, he might prefer it if he doesn't.
