Week 16 begins with a game with playoff implications, as the Jacksonville Jaguars and New York Jets hope to keep their postseason hopes alive with a victory on Thursday night. Read on for our Jaguars-Jets NFL picks based on the top odds.

The Jaguars were left for dead after a 2-6 start but have rebounded with three wins in their last four games. They find themselves just one game back of the Tennessee Titans for first place in the AFC South. Jacksonville’s most likely playoff path is with a division title, and FiveThirtyEight gives the team a 43% chance of catching Tennessee.

Meanwhile, New York has lost three consecutive games (all by one score) and is now .500 (7-7) for the first time since the team was 2-2 after four games. The Jets enter the week tied with the New England Patriots and one game behind the Los Angeles Chargers and Miami Dolphins for one of the AFC’s final playoff spots.

The Jets were installed as -1.5 favorites, but the spread has since grown to -2. The line has fluctuated all week as the Jaguars are drawing 58% of the cash and 63% of the tickets.

The Over/Under has dropped significantly from 42 at open to 37.5. The Over is drawing just 51% of the cash and 52% of the tickets, with bettors split due to potential inclement weather in New York.

There is no denying how well Trevor Lawrence has played for the Jaguars over the previous six games. He has a 70.4% completion percentage, 280 passing yards per game, 15 total touchdowns, and one interception, and he guided his team to four wins in that span. However, Jacksonville has faced five defenses ranked 21st or worst against the pass in that span, so New York’s fourth-ranked pass defense (193.9 yards per game allowed) will pose unique issues.

New York has averaged just 17 points per game during its losing streak, but the inclement weather will compromise both teams’ offenses. However, for as maligned as Zach Wilson is, he is coming off his second 300-yard passing game and tied a career-high with two touchdown passes.

The Jets are 0-6 when rushing for fewer than 90 yards, but look for them to make running the football a priority in sub-optimal conditions against a Jaguars rush defense that ranks in the bottom half of the league (118.1 yards per game allowed).

The odds are all over the place for this game, with every sportsbook at a different number and offering different levels of juice for the spread. Nevertheless, it's a tie between Caesars, BetMGM and DraftKings for who offers the best point spread, as Jets -1 (-105) is the same value as Pick (-110). If Caesars had posted the line as +0.5 (-110) instead of pick, this would be a more favorable line by a very slim margin since in the event of a tie, you would still win.
