SGP Predictions for Chargers vs. Jaguars

Jaguars +2.5 (+100) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

The Jaguars and Chargers faced off in Week 3 of this season, with Jacksonville demonstrating a keen ability to take care of business against this group. The Jaguars found their rhythm in a 38-10 shellacking of the Chargers in Los Angeles.

Though L.A. boasted a remarkable 7-2 ATS record in road games this season, that’s not even the most notable ATS trend in the matchup. The Jaguars finished 4-3 ATS in home games this season with all four covers coming with Jacksonville listed as an underdog. The Jags were 4-0 ATS as home dogs on the campaign.

Not to mention, Los Angeles accumulated its successes largely against inferior competition. Against teams that made the playoffs, the Chargers went 1-5 outright, posting an average margin of defeat of 10.8 points per loss. DraftKings lists the Jaguars at -2.5 with +100 odds, while FanDuel has it juiced to -112.

Lawrence Over 249.5 passing yards (+105) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Lawrence passed for 262 yards and three touchdowns in Jacksonville’s Week 3 win over L.A. The Chargers have improved as a pass defense since then, allowing only three quarterbacks to reach 250 or more passing yards against them over their final eight games.

If the Jaguars are going to find their way to covering the spread as we’ve predicted above, though, it almost has to come through some special plays by Lawrence. The second-year NFL starter has cleared this passing line eight times on the season, doing so in four of his last seven home games.

Los Angeles was susceptible to the pass last week against Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson, allowing 283 passing yards in a meaningless loss. FanDuel has a more attainable line of 245.5 yards, but the -113 odds pale in comparison to the plus-money odds on Over 249.5 yards posted at DraftKings.

Ekeler anytime touchdown scorer (-150) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Austin Ekeler has been a machine for the Los Angeles offense this season, scoring at least one touchdown in 11 of his last 14 games. On the campaign, Ekeler has piled up a league-high 18 total touchdowns.

Though the Jaguars have allowed only 14 rushing touchdowns on the season, Jacksonville ranks 30th in the NFL in pass defense DVOA. In a game without Williams as a red-zone option for the young Herbert, Ekeler should take on even more of an emphasis as a receiver out of the backfield in the most important area of the field.

FanDuel also lists Ekeler at -150 to score a touchdown Saturday. The combined parlay odds are more favorable at DraftKings (+600 at DK, +497 at FanDuel).
