The Chicago Bears are riding high after their comeback win against the Tennesse Titans in Week 1, but can their defense come through again in primetime against the Houston Texans?

It was a rough debut for first-overall draft pick Caleb Williams, but his team still came away with the win. Along with our Bears vs. Texans prediction, our Bears vs. Texans prop picks using our best Sunday Night Football odds anticipate another tough outing from the Chicago signal caller.

Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud outdueled fellow second-year quarterback Anthony Richardson to beat the Indianapolis Colts last week. Houston brings a strong team into their home opener in front of a national audience.

As part of our Week 3 NFL predictions, we break down the Sunday Night Football tilt.

Caleb Williams + C.J. Stroud Under 479.5 passing yards (-110) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Williams threw for just 93 yards in his NFL debut last week, completing 14 of 29 passes. The Bears' offense did not break 150 yards of total offense in their opener. We further break down his game in our Caleb Williams player props and C.J. Stroud player props.

Williams takes on a Houston defense that held Richardson to 212 passing yards last week. I can see the rookie improving in Week 2, but not nearly enough to make a dent in this prop.

The Texans looked impressive in their season opener with a win against the Colts. However, in that win, Stroud threw for 234 yards. Last season, Stroud averaged 273.9 passing yards per game. Even if he hit this mark, Williams would need to more than double his output from his last outing for this to cash.

I expect both teams to rely heavily on their explosive running backs, keeping the passing totals low for this game. With this prop, you profit $9.09 from a $10 bet.

T.J. Edwards Over 9.5 tackles + assists (+105) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Edwards began his 2024 campaign by racking up 15 total tackles against the Titans last week. He was given plenty of opportunity with Tennessee’s 26 overall rushing attempts. The former Philadelphia linebacker finished seventh in the league in total tackles last season, averaging just over nine per game.

He will enjoy another week of opportunity facing a Houston offense that gave running back Joe Mixon 33 touches in their season-opener. Mixon carried the ball 30 times in his first game as a Texan. I can see a game script in which he once again keeps playing around the line of scrimmage, giving Edwards and company in play.

Caesars has juiced this line to -101, so double up your money with this bet on BetMGM, which will give you a $10.50 profit on your $10 wager.

Joe Mixon Over 70.5 rushing yards (-113) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

You could have set this total at 170.5 last week, and Mixon would have fallen only 12 yards short of cashing as the former Bengals back went off for 159. He averaged an impressive 5.3 yards per carry in that effort.

He will get a chance for another solid outing against a Chicago defense that surrendered 82 yards to Tony Pollard last week. Should the Texans jump out to an early lead, Mixon would be in line to come close to his 30-carry total from last week. If he does, he could possibly even top 100 yards again this week.
