Colonial Country Club in Forth Worth, Texas hosts a field of 132 golfers this week, headlined by betting favorite and World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler as we make our Charles Schwab Challenge picks based on the odds from our best golf betting sites.

The Charles Schwab Challenge returns to Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas, and brings a strong post-major field of 132 golfers. Scottie Scheffler is the prohibitive betting favorite in the wake of his T-8 finish in the PGA Championship. His odds to win this tournament are as low as +270, representing an implied win probability of 27.03%.

Collin Morikawa and Max Homa, ranked Nos. 9 and 10, respectively, in the Official World Golf Rankling (OWGR) are two of the biggest threats to win by the Charles Schwab Challenge odds.

This venue and tournament have produced numerous long-shot winners, including Emiliano Grillo at 60-1 last year. Four of the last five winners at Colonial Country Club had pre-tournament odds of at least +5000.

Here are our best Charles Schwab Challenge picks based on the odds from our best sports betting sites.

Charles Schwab Challenge predictions

Collin Morikawa top American

Morikawa has three top 10s and a T-16 finish through his last four events, including a T-3 in the Masters and a T-4 in the PGA Championship. The two-time major winner is back up to ninth in the OWGR, but this pick is as much about him as it is fading the ridiculously low odds on Scheffler in both the outright and top American betting markets.

Scheffler's odds to win the event are as low as +270 with Morikawa's best price at +1200 as the next name on the board. The tournament favorite is also +200 to be the top American at bet365, so we'll take the exaggerated odds on Morikawa in an American-heavy field.

Ryo Hisatsune top 20

Hisatsune is coming off a strong T-18 finish in his PGA Championship debut. That made his missed cut in the watered-down Myrtle Beach Classic field look even more weird, especially as that came on the heels of a T-13 in the CJ Cup Byron Nelson.

What has me most attracted to Hisatsune this week is his PGA Tour rank of second this season in birdie-or-better percentage from this week's key distance of 125-150 yards. He's also gaining strokes around the greens, and his accuracy off the tee will play well at this difficult venue.

Best odds: +350 via FanDuel

Mark Hubbard top 30

Hubbard has moved up to No. 79 in the OWGR while not missing a cut since the RSM Classic in the fall. He's coming off a career-best major finish of T-26 in the PGA Championship, and he ranks ninth on Tour this season in birdie-or-better percentage from 125-150 yards.

He also tied for ninth in this event last year while ranking third in the field with 1.83 strokes gained: approach per round. His approach play was also a strength last week, as it has been across his last 20 measured rounds.

His odds in this top 30 market are most commonly found at +150, so we can fetch an extra $1 in profit on a winning $10 bet by placing this wager with bet365.

Lucas Glover

Though Glover enters this week with a top finish of 11th in the Valspar Championship this year, he remains 36th in the OWGR and should be priced much closer to the betting favorites in a strong but top-heavy field. Only seven golfers have played more competitive rounds at Colonial CC than Glover's 50, over which he has averaged 0.17 true strokes gained on the field per round. His best finishes here include a T-8 result in 2021.

Glover enters this year's event as a strong course fit based on his play over his last four events. He's averaging 1.04 strokes gained: approach and 0.20 SG: around-the-green per round. He's more accurate than long off the tee, and that'll also play well at this moderate 7,289-yard venue.

Glover tied for 43rd in the PGA Championship and has played the weekend in six straight events following a missed cut in The Players Championship. His only other missed cut through 13 events in 2024 was the Sony Open in Hawaii in early January.

I initially bet Glover's +8000 odds Monday morning, but those dropped to a market-high of +6600 as of Tuesday morning. He's back up to +7500 via FanDuel, with Caesars down to a low of +4500. There's a difference of $300 in profit on a winning $10 bet by placing this bet with FanDuel.

Scottie Scheffler's Charles Schwab Challenge odds

+275 via BetMGM

Scheffler's first tournament as a new father got off to a rocky start last week, as he was arrested early in the morning in Louisville, Ky., ahead of Friday's second round due to a traffic violation. After having to stretch in a jail cell that morning, Scheffler fired a second round of 5-under 66. But he stumbled to a 2-over 73 during Saturday's third round before a strong finish to finish T-8.

While it must be noted he won the RBC Heritage last month one week after winning the Masters, bettors should be staying far away from these +275 odds. According to our odds converter, those odds represent an implied win probability of 26.67% and would return a profit of just $27.50 on a winning $10 bet. It's quite likely a better number would surface at our best live betting sites, should Scheffler sit a few strokes off the lead after the opening round.

How to bet on golf

When it comes to golf betting, it's essential to understand the various types of wagers available and how to assess player performance effectively. Begin by acquainting yourself with the common bet types, such as outright winners, each-way bets (which encompass both a win and a top finish), head-to-head matchups, and proposition bets tailored to specific tournament events, like hole-in-one occurrences or player performances on designated holes.

Once you've determined your preferred bet types, conduct thorough research on players, course conditions, recent form, and other pertinent factors that could influence outcomes. Delve into player statistics, recent tournament performances, course history, and any injuries or changes in form that may impact a player's chances of success. Armed with this information, you can make well-informed betting decisions and increase your likelihood of success in the realm of golf betting.
