We're looking ahead to the 2024 PGA Championship odds from our best golf betting sites with Scottie Scheffler running away as the clear and consensus betting favorite to win at Valhalla Golf Club in mid-May following his second Masters victory.

The PGA Championship returns to Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Ky., in 2024 for the first time since Rory McIlroy's victory in 2014. Scottie Scheffler will look to continue his 2024 domination by winning a second straight major.

Scottie Scheffler set himself as the unquestioned betting favorite by the PGA Championship odds with his second Masters victory in three years. That was Scheffler's third victory of the 2024 PGA Tour season, and he locked himself into the No. 1 spot in the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR). He followed it up with another multi-stroke victory in the RBC Heritage.

Ever further behind Scheffler on the PGA Championship oddsboard are McIlroy, Jon Rahm, and Brooks Koepka - the defending PGA Champion. Koepka won his fifth career major at Oak Hill Country Club in 2023.

Here are the best PGA Championship odds for 2024 (odds via our best sports betting sites).

Favorites for the 2024 PGA Championship

Scottie Scheffler (+350 via BetMGM)

Scheffler has created a lot of separation between himself, and Rahm and McIlroy as the favorites at our best sports betting apps. The best odds available before the Masters were +650 via Caesars. A lingering outlier +550 ticket for him to win the PGA Championship shortened considerably following the RBC Heritage.

Scheffler's market-low +325 odds from bet365 and bert365 represent an implied win probability of 25.53%. It seems silly, but there's not much of a case to build for betting against Scheffler in any event right now.

Rory McIlroy (+1200 via bet365)

Rory, always a popular bet in majors despite his lengthy winless drought, will be even more popular for the 2024 PGA Championship out of respect for his victory at Valhalla in 2014.

Even though we have an outlier +1100 offering from BetMGM, I have little to no interest in a futures bet on the Northern Irishman. Though still ranked No. 2 in the OWGR, he's showing no signs of truly competing against the best fields in golf, and he can't seem to get his driver, irons, and putter to all be in proper form in the same round, let along over a 72-hole event.

Jon Rahm (+1500 via FanDuel)

Rahm, the defending Masters champion, made the cut at 5-over par for the first major of 2024. His departure for LIV Golf will take plenty of blame for that lackluster performance, and maybe that's fair. Rahm finished in the top 10 of each of LIV's first five events of the year, but without a finish better than T-3 in his debut appearance.

His game isn't nearly as sharp as it was at this time a year ago.

Brooks Koepka's PGA Championship odds

+2100 via FanDuel

This may be the best price on the board a month out from the PGA Championship.

Koepka, the co-runner-up in last year's Masters, finished plus-9 in this year's event. That said, three of his five major wins came in the PGA Championship, and we can safely expect his best golf in those conditions. He tied for 15th in the 2014 PGA Championship in his last appearance at Valhalla.

These +2100 odds will close much closer to the +1200 previously offered as attention shifts toward the second major.

Tiger Woods' PGA Championship odds

+16000 via FanDuel

There's zero reason to bet Tiger in any major. His greatest strength in the Masters is his experience at Augusta National, and he doesn't hold as great a share of that benefit at the other major venues.

These odds will likely close much higher than this, and it's far from guaranteed that Tiger will be able to even tee it up in a competitive event in mid-May.

How to bet on golf

Betting on golf involves understanding the various types of bets available and how to assess player performance. First, familiarize yourself with the different types of bets commonly offered in golf, including outright winner bets, each-way bets (which cover both a win and a top finish), head-to-head matchups between two players, and proposition bets on specific events within a tournament, such as hole-in-one occurrences or individual player performances on certain holes.

Once you've identified the types of bets you're interested in, research the players, course conditions, recent form, and other relevant factors that could influence outcomes. Pay attention to factors like player statistics, recent tournament performances, course history, and any injuries or changes in form that may affect a player's performance.

How to read golf odds

Here's how to read golf betting odds using American odds format:

  • Positive odds: Positive odds indicate the potential profit on a $100 wager. For example, if a golfer has odds of +300, it means that a $100 bet would yield a profit of $300 if the golfer wins the tournament. So, your total payout would be $400 ($300 profit + $100 original stake).
  • Negative odds: Negative odds represent the amount you need to wager to win $100 in profit. For instance, if a golfer has odds of -200, it means that you would need to bet $200 to win $100 in profit if the golfer wins. Your total payout would be $300 ($100 profit + $200 original stake). In a tournament like the Masters, it's unlikely to see negative odds on any golfer until late in Sunday's final round while using our best live betting sites.

Understanding these American odds allows you to quickly assess the potential payout and implied probability of a golfer winning a tournament. Positive odds indicate an underdog, while negative odds signify a favorite.

Odds will move leading up to a tournament's start and throughout the event. Live odds will be reflective of the current leaderboard, golfer performance, and the position of the pre-tournament favorites. The odds also factor in the popularity of certain golfers, and how much money the sportsbooks have taken on those golfers to win the tournament.
