Masters Picks & Predictions 2024: Hunt for Rahm's Jacket Begins

Though Jon Rahm hasn't been quite as dominant since his Green Jacket victory and lost the No. 1 spot in the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) to Scottie Scheffler, he remains the betting favorite by the early Masters odds for the 2024 tournament at Augusta National Golf Course.

Our early 2024 Masters picks aim to emphasize the value of jumping on the futures market early as our best golf betting sites are slow to update these odds. Kim is a great example of the value available in placing an early wager.

The now-21-year-old South Korean made his debut at Augusta National Golf Club in April already as a two-time PGA Tour winner. He proceeded to tie for 16th at ANGC. After a missed cut in the PGA Championship, he tied for eighth in the U.S. Open and for second in the British Open. He now enters what was his best stretch of golf in 2022 looking to repeat as the winner of the Wyndham Championship and/or the Shriners Children's Open.

Any further success between now and April will greatly reduce these odds from FanDuel. Kim's already offered with odds as low as +4500 via DraftKings and PointsBet.

The 2023 Champion Golfer of the Year will next look to follow suit of the long line of left-handed golfers to don a Green Jacket. In his own right, Harman has a previous T-12 finish in the 2021 Masters and his short game and putter, which were unrivaled in the 2023 British Open, will again be well-suited to the Masters venue.

The expected weather forecast for the Augusta, GA, area this week (read more below) has helped to shift my preference toward strokes gained: off the tee while lowering the value of SG: approach. Both the fairways and greens will play soft with rain expected throughout the week, so the fairways won't be nearly as friendly to the field's shorter hitters, but the greens should be a little more accommodating.

Will Zalatoris, who has finishes of second and T-6 in two appearances at the Masters, leads this year's field with an average of 3.49 true strokes gained on the field per round. Scheffler (2.90), Jordan Spieth (2.77), and Jon Rahm (2.59) round out the top four.

This year's Masters, the 87th edition of the event, will be played on the longest version of Augusta National used to date. Much of the added length was in addition to the par-5, 13th hole, bringing it to a new distance of 545 yards in an effort to raise the hole's scoring average from its 2022 mark of 4.83.

That added difficulty only compounds matters for the best golfers in the world. The tight tree lines, severe elevation changes in the fairways, and undulating greens will pose their usual tests. Not that Augusta National needs to play much more difficult, with Scheffler winning by three strokes at a modest 10-under par last April.

In addition to the length, tree lines, elevated fairways, and challenging hole designs, water is in play on four holes, with each of those on the back nine.
