Shout out to DraftKings for once again jumping the gun and posting early WM Phoenix Open odds for the tournament that'll conclude on Super Bowl Sunday near Phoenix, AZ.

The WM Phoenix Open has become one of the most popular PGA Tour events on the calendar. Running during the week of the Super Bowl each year surely helps, as does the eccentric party-like atmosphere that floods TPC Scottsdale's Stadium Course.

For the second straight year, DraftKings is capitalizing on this popularity while releasing outright odds for the WM Phoenix Open months before the actual event. That was previously done for only the four majors.

Bettors should note that the listed betting options may not necessarily be in the final field announced the Friday before the tournament. You'll be refunded in full if your early picks withdraw.

WM Phoenix Open betting analysis

The first thing bettors need to note is that the 2024 PGA Tour schedule looks much different than it did for 2023. The 2022 WM Phoenix Open was not only played during the week of the Super Bowl in Arizona, but it was also a designated event to help draw out many of the top golfers from the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR).

The WM Phoenix Open now isn't a signature event in 2024, and it's sandwiched between two others—the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and The Genesis Invitational. That will likely cause many of the WM Phoenix Open favorites listed above to skip the event, making it the ideal time to target some long shots on the early oddsboard before their prices are drastically reduced.

Scottie Scheffler (+700 via DraftKings)

Scheffler is the only player of the top WM Phoenix Open favorites I'd expect to participate in this event, as he'll be defending his 2023 victory.

Given the nature of the PGA Tour's schedule in 2024 and the priority that'll be given to the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and The Genesis Invitational, I'd expect the likes of Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm, and possibly Viktor Hovland to withdraw. Their departure from the oddsboard would make Scheffler an even more popular bet and result in our best sports betting apps lowering his odds significantly.

WM Phoenix Open odds 2024: Contender

Sahith Theegala (+4500 via DraftKings)

Though he was able to collect his first career solo PGA Tour victory in the fall of 2023, Theegala still isn't often associated with the top tier of golfers and usual tournament favorites. He's also among the golfers who take advantage of a week with many of the top stars out of circulation while looking to collect another win.

The California native got off to a strong start early in 2023 and previously tied for third in this event before last year's T-39 result. Whether he ultimately plays the 2024 WM Phoenix Open, this number will likely be much lower by the time the event comes around.

WM Phoenix Open odds 2024: Long shot

K.H. Lee (+13000 via DraftKings)

Lee has excellent history at TPC Scottsdale, including a T-2 finish in 2021. He has averaged 1.10 trues strokes gained on the field per round, and I view him even more likely than Theegala to align his schedule with this event.

The South Korean tied for third in The CJ Cup late in 2022 before a T-7 finish the Sentry Tournament of Champions to start 2023. Any similar success early in 2024 will reduce these enticing odds.
