Two of the NFL’s top quarterbacks face off against their former teams to open their seasons on Sunday Night Football as we offer our best Rams vs. Lions player props. The Lions enter the new season ranked third in the Super Bowl odds.

The kings of the NFC North take on the runner-up in the NFC West to start the fresh campaign. Our Phil Wood expects a high-scoring affair as part of his NFL parlay picks.

The Lions dominated their division en route to a conference championship showdown with the San Francisco 49ers last season. Meanwhile, the Rams finished second in the NFC West, and the Lions eventually eliminated them in the wild-card round.

Matthew Stafford Over Jared Goff passing yards (-110) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

BetMGM is currently alone among our best sportsbooks while offering the opportunity to wager on a passing yard head-to-head prop. This bet is a great way to get a little extra value over the -115 most books are offering for a straight yardage total on both of these quarterbacks.

Jared Goff cleared Matthew Stafford in total passing yards by just over 600 yards last season. However, fewer than five yards per game separated the two. Stafford also appeared in two fewer games last year, making this an even closer battle.

These two signal-callers have faced off against each other twice so far in the regular season. Stafford has come away with the most passing yards of the two in each meeting. He threw for 334 yards during the last clash, while Goff accounted for just 268 passing yards. Stafford also outdueled Goff by 90 yards during last season’s wild-card matchup.

However, Goff begins the campaign as a long shot in the NFL MVP odds.

Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp to combine for Over 200.5 receiving yards (+350) ⭐⭐⭐

Last year, rookie sensation Puka Nacua and the reliable veteran Cooper Kupp were given 53% of their quarterback’s targets. Nacua ended the campaign with 1,486 receiving yards, which landed him ninth overall in that category. He managed 87.4 yards per game.

Kupp missed the first four games of last year, but he still posted an effective 61.4 yards per game in his 12 regular-season appearances. Despite his injuries from last season, Kupp still remains an offensive threat for the Rams. He averaged just over 102 receiving yards per outing in the two seasons prior to last year.

The duo will face a Lions defense that allowed the second-most passing yards per game (257) last season. The unit gave up 311.3 yards through the air per game across its final three contests.

Mike Spector is also backing Kupp to score in his Rams vs. Lions prediction.

Joshua Karty Over 1.5 field goals made (+115) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

This game will be the first NFL regular-season start for Joshua Karty. The rookie will take over for the departed Brett Maher while handling kicking duties for the Rams. The team averaged 1.9 field goals per game last season.

Detroit allowed an average of 2.0 field goals per matchup over its final three games last season. The Lions also gave up three field goals to Maher during the playoff matchup.

Several of our best sports betting sites are offering this prop. However, BetMGM is giving you the best value. As part of our NFL predictions for Week 1, take the plus-money price here given the low threshold for a two-field goal game from the rookie.
