Despite the first Monday Night Football game of the season featuring the return of two prominent No. 1 starting quarterbacks, I’m backing the Under in my Broncos vs. Chiefs prediction.
The Chiefs are the 2.5-point betting favorite for the tilt at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Mo. (8:15 p.m. ET, ABC).

I’m all for the Under in the first Monday Night Football game of the season. Both No. 1 quarterbacks will make their long-anticipated returns, with Patrick Mahomes playing his first game since tearing his ACL and LCL in December and Bo Nix fracturing his ankle in the January playoff victory over the Buffalo Bills.
Even without factoring in the accrued rust, neither offense was particularly expansive or free-flowing last season. And the Broncos’ defense, which is almost entirely intact from last season, had the fifth-best defensive DVOA.
Despite it being the season opener, a lot is on the line for these rivals, and neither will want to make a catastrophic mistake. I expect a defensive slugfest, with the Broncos snatching a fourth straight victory against the Chiefs.
