Now that the calendar has flipped to 2024, college basketball will heat up with conference play taking place over the next two months. It will become increasingly difficult for even the best teams to win on the road, and NCAA Tournament seeding implications will be on the line nearly every night.
The ACC will provide some of the best games on Tuesday night, with North Carolina slated to travel to Pittsburgh and Boston College hosting Wake Forest. Both games are expected to be decided by a single possession, and could go a long way in determining the overall outlook of the 2023-24 season.

Tuesday's college basketball game picks
Boston College (+2) vs. Wake Forest (-110 via bet365) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Boston College dropped its ACC opener back on Dec. 2, suffering an overtime loss to NC State at home. But ShotQuality's metrics actually graded that performance as a 67% post-game win expectancy for the Eagles, who have responded from that defeat by winning four in a row.
In a toss-up game, we are siding with the underrated team at home to begin 2024. But there is no reason to take anything lower than +1.5 on the spread.
Western Michigan vs. Miami (OH) Under 148 (-110 via BetRivers) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
This is another outlier number based on what the best sports betting sites are offering. The total for this game is trading as low as 146.5 at FanDuel, and is being offered at 147.5 at most places. BetRivers is providing us with the lone 148, making it the best place to shop for the Under.
ShotQuality projects a total of 141.8 for this game, as it's hard to envision where the points are coming from in this one. Both offenses ranks outside the top 200 in adjusted efficiency as well as ShotQuality's Rim and Three rate metric. Simply put, they don't have the best shot selection and they don't have efficient offenses.
To make matters worse, Western Michigan ranks 357th in the nation with a free-throw percentage of 60.1% and Miami (OH) is 355th in offensive rebound rate at 19.9%. So not only are the offenses poor overall, but they struggle with the easy stuff.
We are expecting a low-scoring affair in this one, and would be willing to play the Under at 147.5 or better.
