South Carolina (+325)
Eight of the nine players who played over 10 minutes per game last season are back for the Gamecocks, including guards Te-Hina Paopao and Raven Johnson. However, it's Kamilla Cardoso replacement Chloe Kitts who's been the true star on this squad, leading the team in scoring and rebounds on the campaign.
Additionally, a lot is expected from fellow sophomore Tessa Johnson after she showcased her talent in the championship game with 19 points off the bench, but she's had a slightly muted start to the campaign as she remains in a reserve role.
Despite all the positives, South Carolina was stunned in a 15-point road loss to fellow title contender UCLA. The Gamecocks saw only two players reach double figures in scoring, while allowing five Bruins to top that mark on the other side. The lack of both offensive and defensive ability in the contest was eye-opening, and the team's odds fell as a result.
Between Staley's coaching ability and how she's built this roster as a master recruiter, the Gamecocks still deserve to be the favorites in the market. The +325 odds imply a 23.53% probability South Carolina repeats, according to our odds calculator.

UConn (+350)
With Bueckers returning for her redshirt senior season, the Huskies are the only team in the country with a former women's Wooden Award winner. As a freshman, Bueckers was voted the best player in the country, but injuries as a sophomore and junior derailed her development. She came back with a vengeance this past season while averaging 21.9 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 3.8 assists. She shot 41.6% from deep.
As long as Bueckers is healthy, UConn is a threat to win its first national championship since 2016. While Geno Auriemma's program lost WNBA first-rounder Aaliyah Edwards, a plethora of young talented players are returning. Juniors Ashlynn Shade and KK Arnold headline the supporting cast in 2024-25. Star freshman Sarah Strong is second on the team in scoring behind Bueckers, and tops in rebounding.
The Huskies are in the midst of one of the toughest non-conference slates in the entire country, and have passed every test thus far. Even if they were to fall in one of their challenging games ahead, there's still no reason to believe this blend of star power and experienced coaching isn't a threat to cut down the nets in early April.
With UConn's odds nearly catching up to South Carolina's, it's fair to officially call this battle a two-horse race.
