On Thursday at Barclays Center, the New York Liberty look to remain unbeaten when they host the Chicago Sky, and we have you covered with our best Sky-Liberty predictions based on the best WNBA odds.

The New York Liberty have started the 2024 season flawlessly, winning their first four games by a combined 63 points after losing in last season's WNBA Finals. They will aim to extend their 4-0 record when they host the Chicago Sky, with the game tipping off at 7 p.m. ET in Brooklyn, N.Y.

The Liberty, 15.5-point favorites, are led by reigning MVP Breanna Stewart, who remains a top contender for this year's award according to the latest WNBA MVP odds. Stewart's exceptional performance has been key to New York's unbeaten run, bolstering the team's WNBA championship odds.

Here are our best Sky vs. Liberty predictions (odds via our best sports betting sites; pick confidence based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

Sky vs. Liberty predictions for Thursday

Sky +15.5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐

There's no getting around it: the Liberty have been the best team in the WNBA on a per-possession basis this year, and they're getting it done on both ends of the court.

Still, this is a massive number to cover in a random midweek tilt. While New York is outscoring teams by 15.8 points on average, only one of its wins has cleared this point spread, and that came on national TV in Caitlin Clark's home debut.

That win was sandwiched by solid but less impressive wins over the Washington Mystics (+5), Indiana Fever (+11), and Seattle Storm (+11). I have the Sky slotted in the same range as those three teams in my latest WNBA power rankings, and none benefitted from as big of a rest advantage as Chicago will have entering this one.

The Liberty played four games in the first six days of the season - the most by any team - and enjoyed two days off before returning to the court Thursday. Meanwhile, the Sky haven't played since Saturday's 83-74 win over the Dallas Wings and should be well-prepared to face last year's finalists.

1st quarter Under 42 ⭐⭐⭐

The Liberty have been absolutely demolishing teams in the first quarter this season, outscoring opponents by 37.8 points per 100 possessions. A key reason is their defense, which is allowing the second-fewest points (18.3) in the opening period.

The only team better? The Sky, who held the Wings to 16 and 20 points, respectively, in the first quarter of their two-game series to open the year. Both games fell below this total, while three of New York's first four games saw a combined 43 points or fewer in the first quarter.

I wouldn't be surprised if we see tired legs from the Liberty to open this one, especially against a physical Chicago frontcourt that plays with a ton of energy.
