A'ja Wilson remains the consensus favorite by the 2024 WNBA MVP odds across our best sports betting sites after Breanna Stewart won the award in 2023.

One of the closest MVP races in WNBA history ended with New York Liberty star Breanna Stewart winning the award in 2023. But our best sportsbooks don't expect a repeat performance in 2024.

Instead, Las Vegas Aces star A'ja Wilson entered this season with shortest WNBA odds for the award, and those odds have shortened after a strong first week for the two-time MVP winner. She's dealing ahead of Stewart (Liberty) and Alyssa Thomas (Connecticut Sun), the other two finalists for the award in 2023.

Wilson and Stewart have accounted for four of the last six MVP awards, and their teams remain the favorites by the latest WNBA championship odds. Yet Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark is by far the most-bet player to win this award across our best sports betting apps and entered 2024 with as much hype as we've ever seen for any player in this league.

Here are the latest 2024 WNBA MVP odds with a look at the favorites and past winners:

Favorites to win 2024 WNBA MVP

A'ja Wilson (+110 via bet365)

After an MVP-caliber season in 2023, Wilson has gotten off to a hot start through the first week of this season, averaging a career-high 26 points, 11.5 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks while adding 3.0 assists.

Those numbers are all better than what she put up in either of her MVP-winning seasons in 2020 and 2022 or her third-place showing in 2023. All of it comes on the heels of her winning her first Finals MVP, too, which can't be ignored in a market with as much cognitive bias as this one.

It feels like Wilson has been extra motivated this season, both by her MVP snub in '23 and the arrival of Clark and the excitement surrounding the prized rookie. Even with Clark on board, Wilson remains the best player in the W, and she isn't shy about letting you know on and off the court.

Alyssa Thomas (+700 via bet365)

Thomas is easily the most underrated star in the WNBA, and she probably should have won MVP last year in the closest finish in league history.

She's wasted no time building an early case in 2024, averaging career highs in points (16.7), rebounds (11.7), and assists (9.3) for a Sun team that hasn't yet lost a game. It's obviously early, but if Thomas can maintain anything close to this level of play, she won't be dealing at these odds for long.

Breanna Stewart (+1000 via FanDuel)

The reigning MVP entered this season with no worse than +800 odds, and those promptly shot up after an eight-point outing to open the year.

She followed that with a 31-point outburst against Clark and Co. on national TV, and she's since led the Liberty to three straight double-digit victories amid a 4-0 start. Yet her MVP odds remain inflated as Wilson and Thoms earn favor in the betting market.

With the Liberty expected to compete for the title again, Stewart will be right there with Wilson throughout the MVP race. These long odds don't reflect how close that race will likely be, and they could represent a rare value on one of the favorites.

Caitlin Clark WNBA MVP odds

+5500 via FanDuel

A week ago, Clark was dealing at 12/1 or shorter to become the first rookie to win WNBA MVP since Candace Parker did so in 2008. What a difference a week makes.

It's not that Clark has been outright "bad" - she still ranks just outside the top 15 in points (17.0) and right outside the top 10 in assists (5.5). But she's fallen so short of expectations that her odds have more than quadrupled in the span of a week.

This is the more appropriate number for Clark, and it might even represent a value if she can lean on her 3-point shooting early as she gets accustomed to the physicality of the W. She's a long way from becoming the WNBA's greatest of all time, but she still has more talent than these now-long odds suggest.
