It looks like we can hold off writing those obituaries for the Las Vegas Aces after a string of statement wins from the 2024 WNBA championship odds favorites.

Our best sports betting sites have been cautious all year long not to discount the defending champs in the WNBA odds markets, even as they stumbled to their worst start since A'ja Wilson's rookie season. Sure enough, the prohibitive MVP favorite has maintained her historic scoring pace to lead Las Vegas to five straight wins by double digits.

That includes Tuesday's blowout win over the Indiana Fever and rookie Caitlin Clark, who remains the clear WNBA Rookie of the Year odds favorite and has seemingly turned a corner as a scorer and facilitator after nearly two dozen games as a pro.

Here are a look at the latest betting odds and history for the WNBA championship, MVP, and Rookie of the Year, along with our weekly power rankings.

2024 WNBA championship expert analysis

For a few weeks, it looked like the Las Vegas Aces (+155) might be in some serious trouble after entering the season as prohibitive favorites. They lost six of their first 12 games, including a home loss to the New York Liberty (+185) in a rematch of last year's WNBA Finals.

Then came this recent five-game win streak for the Aces, with all five coming by double digits. That helped reinstill my confidence in the two-time defending champions, who feel like the better bet between the two, but you might be better off waiting until the Finals to see which is healthier by the end of the postseason.

How about those Minnesota Lynx (+750) who are quietly making a case as the best team in the WNBA? Even with their win in the Commissioner's Cup, I still think I prefer the proven commodity of the Connecticut Sun (+850), who have the playoff experience and the two-way prowess to threaten the top teams in the league.

Above all those teams, I'm deeply intrigued by the value on the Seattle Storm (+1200), who took some time to get going but have now won four straight by double-digits with 12 wins in their last 15 games - including a victory over the Sun on June 23. The newest "superteam," as Wilson called them recently, will be a tough out in the playoffs with Jewell Loyd, Nneka Ogwumike, Skylar Diggins-Smith, and Ezi Magbegor leading the way.

I also haven't fully written off the Dallas Wings (+30000) - who opened the year among the favorites - though they're testing my patience with a 1-13 run entering Wednesday. It might be tough for this group to even make the playoffs, but if they do, a healthy lineup with Arike Ogunbowale, Satou Sabally, and Natasha Howard is worth betting on as ultra-long shots.

2024 WNBA MVP expert analysis

What is there left to say that hasn't already been said about A'ja Wilson (-550)? She was trading at roughly -200 two weeks ago across our best live betting sites, but she continues to pull away from the field with a truly historic campaign.

After a 28-point effort against the Fever on Tuesday, she's averaging 27 points and 11 rebounds through her first 17 starts. The first mark would shatter the all-time mark set by Diana Taurasi (25.3 PPG), while the latter would rank 12th across a full season.

Even when the Aces were struggling to win games, Wilson's historic pace had her trading as the clear front-runner following a third-place finish last year - something that has clearly motivated the two-time MVP winner this season. Now that Las Vegas once again looks like a juggernaut? This race feels like a wrap.

The only other player I'd consider betting at this point is Breanna Stewart (+3500), last year's MVP winner who has just 0.3 fewer win shares (4.5) than Wilson (4.8) entering Wednesday. She's won this award twice before, and at these long odds, there's no better bet if you can't stomach the short price on Wilson.

WNBA Rookie of the Year expert analysis

The gap continues to close between Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark (-550), who has been the favorite since the WNBA season tipped off, and top challenger Angel Reese (+375), who continues to make history for the Chicago Sky.

Clark is the "easy" choice for voters, as she leads all rookies in scoring (16 PPG) and ranks third leaguewide in assists (7.1 APG). Yet Reese leads the league in rebounds (11.8) - a mark that ranks third all-time - and her active streak of double-doubles (11) is already the longest in a single season by any player in WNBA history.

Embed content GV0uhmKiKOE image

Both players were named All-Stars this week, and they would both make for worthy winners in any given year. That said, I'm really struggling to see how Reese doesn't deserve this award, given the literal history she's making on the court on a nightly basis.

This award could come down to these teams' final showdown on Aug. 30 in Chicago. If the host Sky win that one, they'll have tied the season series and likely benefitted from a big game from Reese. If the Fever win, though, they'll have a 3-1 series edge on the season, which would be another feather in Clark's cap in this race.

How to read WNBA odds

When looking at WNBA title odds, it's important to note that the team that is "most likely" to win will have the shortest odds, i.e., the smaller number attached to their name.

For example, the Las Vegas Aces entered the season as an overwhelming favorite with odds between -105 and +110. Those -105 odds imply a 51.22% probability Las Vegas wins it all, but the +110 odds are a better value, with a $10 bet leading to a $9.09 profit.

The longer the odds are, the bigger the profit they'll return if the bet hits. For example, the Indiana Fever entered the year with +2500 odds, so a $10 bet on Indiana to win the championship would result in a $250 profit if Caitlin Clark leads the Fever to the title.

While most books use American odds (like we have), some prefer decimal odds. In that case, you can use our odds converter to see them in the American style.
