Rory McIlroy, Xander Schauffele, and Wyndham Clark headline a leaderboard packed with big names at seven-under-par as we break down the Players Championship Round 2 odds and picks based on odds from our best golf betting sites.

The Players Championship odds consensus favorite was Scottie Scheffler, fresh off a dazzling performance to win the Arnold Palmer Invitational by five strokes. That victory made him the favorite in all PGA Tour betting markets this week ahead of Thursday’s opening round.

Scheffler played well, overcoming a three-putt bogey on the first hole, and sits at 5-under-par in T-6. However, Xander Schauffele, Rory McIlroy, and Wyndham Clark stole the show and lead at minus-7.

All three players produced at least seven birdies, while McIlroy still managed a T-1 finish despite a bogey and double bogey with two errant tee shots landing in water hazards.

Other notable performances include Nick Taylor and Matt Fitzpatrick at 6-under-par, tied for fourth, with over half a dozen golfers logjammed at 5-under. While the first round was suspended due to darkness, Round 2 is shaping up to deliver from the Sunshine State beginning at 7:40 a.m. ET.

Here are the live Players Championship Round 2 odds and our top picks for Friday based on the odds from our best sports betting sites.

Players Championship Round 2 picks

Nick Taylor outright winner ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Best odds: +3500 via Caesars

Taylor might be one of the most underrated golfers on the PGA Tour. The Canadian won the WM Phoenix Open in February despite opening at +17000 in the outright betting market. Now, he’s positioned himself for success with a strong opening round, going bogey-free en route to a 6-under-par finish in Round 1.

Taylor has four career wins, two of which came in the past calendar year. Ranked 19th in strokes gained: putting and 20th in SG: approach, he’s still an incredibly good value in the outright markets at +3500 odds heading into Round 2.

This number is available on multiple sportsbooks, but Caesars is where we’re heading to stake half a unit on Taylor to contend in the remaining three rounds and to notch his first career win at TPC Sawgrass.

Wyndham Clark 3-ball matchup (vs. Collin Morikawa and Brian Harman) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Best odds: +190 via FanDuel

At FanDuel, Clark is carrying +190 odds in a 3-ball matchup against Collin Morikawa and Brian Harman. This is too good to pass up.

Yes, Clark’s strong start, draining eight birdies to surge into a T-1 finish alongside Schauffele and McIlroy, means he won’t have to keep his foot on the gas compared to Morikawa and Harman, who are 1-under and even, respectively. However, Clark performs at a high level in Round 2. Through six events played, he ranks second with a scoring average of 67.17.

Clark’s irons and putter present a lethal one-two punch, which is why he’s 22nd in birdie average and ninth in scoring average. Let’s stake a unit on Clark to win his 3-ball matchup in Round 2 against Morikawa and Harman at +190 odds on FanDuel.

How to bet on golf

Betting on golf involves understanding the various types of bets available and how to assess player performance. First, familiarize yourself with the different types of bets commonly offered in golf, including outright winner bets, each-way bets (which cover both a win and a top finish), head-to-head matchups between two players, and proposition bets on specific events within a tournament, such as hole-in-one occurrences or individual player performances on certain holes.

Once you've identified the types of bets you're interested in, research the players, course conditions, recent form, and other relevant factors that could influence outcomes. Pay attention to factors like player statistics, recent tournament performances, course history, and any injuries or changes in form that may affect a player's performance.
