Yes, sports betting is legal in New York. In April 2021, legislation permitting state-wide mobile sports wagering was signed into law by then-Gov. Andrew Cuomo, although the final regulations weren't adopted until November 2021. Legal mobile betting officially launched on Jan. 8, 2022.

The New York Gaming Commission is tasked with regulating all forms of gambling in the state, including sports betting. The NYGC mandate covers the complete monitoring of online sports operators and retail sports betting, state lotteries, and horse racing markets. The NYGC also looks out for the consumer and offers several responsible gaming programs to those interested.
