Switzerland vs. Colombia Prediction: World Cup Picks & Best Bets (July 7)

It won't be pretty, but we're backing Colombia to emerge victorious from Tuesday's tactical battle against Switzerland.

The last game of the Round of 16 stage of the 2026 World Cup features Switzerland taking on Colombia at BC Place in Vancouver on Tuesday. Although both teams produced solid wins in the Round of 32 after winning their groups, my Switzerland vs. Colombia prediction favors the South American side to emerge victorious.

The odds are tight for this encounter, with Colombia entering as a +125 favorite to beat +250 Switzerland. As part of my World Cup best bets, I'm backing Granit Xhaka to pick up a yellow card in what should be an intense game (4 p.m. ET on FOX and FOX One).

⚽ Who will win Switzerland vs. Colombia?

Both teams have been sound defensively through four games at the World Cup, but we're picking Colombia to secure a berth in the quarterfinals with an energized attack that will overwhelm Switzerland.

The Swiss produced their first clean sheet in the Round of 32 with a 2-0 win over Algeria after limiting opponents to one goal per game in the group stage. The attack has been similarly encouraging, averaging over two goals a game.

But they've yet to face a team as fluid and intense as Colombia. Colombia's transition play is famously difficult to defend, while the defense is among the best at the 2026 World Cup after allowing just one goal in four games. It's total football at its best.

Score prediction: Colombia 2, Switzerland 0

💵 My best bet: Granit Xhaka yellow card (+310)

Granit Xhaka's main task of disrupting Colombia's counterattacks could spell trouble for the Switzerland captain. In a match where the stakes are high, it won't be surprising to see the passionate midfielder pick up a yellow card while trying to prevent a goal-scoring opportunity.

Since Colombia has a speedy squad that isn't afraid to take defenders on, expect the Sunderland midfielder to commit at least one tactical foul that forces the match official to brandish a yellow card.

🦶 Who will score in Switzerland vs. Colombia?

Luis Diaz, LW, Colombia (+230)

The fact that Colombia's leading scorer is a defender (Daniel Munoz) suggests the entire team is a threat to score within head coach Nestor Lorenzo's system. Five different players have found the back of the net, but we're targeting the team's talisman, Luis Diaz, to fire Colombia to victory.

Diaz is one of the most electric players at the World Cup, tormenting defenders with his clinical finishing and dazzling dribbling. His pace and one-vs-one dribbling make him a prime candidate to break down Switzerland's composed defense in a match where chances will be limited.

Best Switzerland vs. Colombia goal-scorer pick: Luis Diaz (+230 via FanDuel)

🥅 Will both teams score in Switzerland vs. Colombia?

While we expect Colombia to find the back of the net at least once, it's a different story for a Swiss team that will struggle to create chances against Colombia's low-blocking scheme.

After silencing an elite Portugal attack during the group stage, Colombia is positioned to subdue the Swiss to secure its fourth clean sheet of the World Cup. Davinson Sanchez and Jhon Lucumi have emerged as one of the top defensive pairings at the World Cup and should continue their dominance at the back against a Swiss team that lacks a world-class scorer.

Both teams to score (BTTS) pick: No (-125 via bet365)
