The last two Round of 16 matches feature Argentina vs. Egypt and Switzerland vs. Colombia, both of which are featured in my World Cup predictions today.

I'm backing the GOAT to extend his World Cup goal-scoring streak, coupled with an Argentina victory in a match with three goals or fewer. As part of my World Cup best bets, I also envision bonus soccer, expecting Switzerland vs. Colombia to require extra time, possibly penalties, to decide a winner.

💰 Best World Cup prediction today

Lionel Messi anytime goal (-137) vs. Egypt

The ageless wonder keeps on rolling along like the Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Tied atop the Golden Boot scoring chart with seven goals, Messi shows no signs of slowing down.

He rescued Argentina against Cabo Verde and extended his goal-scoring streak to eight World Cup games.

In those eight games, he scored 12 goals. Whether it be from a free kick, the penalty spot, or open play, the maestro needs only half a moment to strike. And I have full confidence he will do so against a comparatively mediocre Egyptian defense. We have more La Pulga plays in our Lionel Messi player props.

🔥 More World Cup predictions for Tuesday

Argentina ML & Under 3.5 goals (-120)

Argentina won't endure a scare as they did against Cabo Verde in successive knockout stage matches. While I don't expect a blowout, Argentina should win 2-0.

They have outscored their opponents 11-3 through four games and are better in every facet than Egypt, which required penalties to get past a decent Australian squad. Egypt tied two of their three group games, with their lone victory coming against an inferior New Zealand side.

And I don't expect a five-goal thriller as we saw in Argentina's uncharacteristic Round of 32 match.

Our Gorden Brunt breaks this one down further in his Argentina vs. Egypt prediction.

Switzerland vs. Colombia regulation tie (+260)

Switzerland is ranked 15th in the world, and Colombia is 11th, and I expect their parity in the rankings to extend onto the pitch. I love Under 2.5 goals, but the odds are too short for my liking.

Switzerland enjoyed a comfortable Round of 32 match against Algeria, winning 2-0. It will be anything but comfortable against Colombia, who haven't conceded a goal in three matches and tied Portugal 0-0 in the group stage. Colombia dominated Ghana in the Round of 32, yet only managed a 1-0 victory.

This has 1-1 or 0-0 written all over it, and I wouldn't be surprised to see the match decided by penalties.
